Do Your Homework A drift boat is like adding a new member to the family. It may be a tool that puts bread on the table if you're guiding for a living or it may take your family and friends on adventures to places you've never seen. Best of all, you'll be in a boat, one of the most favorite passtimes there is. Add a fish tailing across the water in front of your boat and you have the most sought after experience there is. Why buy A Pavati? 1. 100% welded aluminum hull. Light weight, maintenance free, and won't burn. The fiberglass guys will tell you that aluminum boats are noisy and cold. We fixed the noise problem by putting a Kevlar spray-on undercoating. It not only shuts the noise down but slides over rocks and gravel with ease. As far as the cold goes, when it's 20 degrees fiberglass is not going to keep you warm. That's why man invented heaters. Careful with that heater in a fiberglass boat. Fiberglass resin is highly flammable. Aluminum is also 20-30% lighter, and virtually maintenance free. When you get home from a great day of fishing you want to relax until tomorrow when you go do it again. Not work all night patching and painting. 2. Patent pending doors. Getting in and out of drift boats is a hazard. We don't have to tell you this, you've already experienced it. It's cold and wet, you have your chest waiters on, you're stove up a little from sitting for a while, Now, you have to be a gymnasts to get out of the boat to fish!?! When you finally get your poor old leg over the side, you slip on a mossy rock and, well you know the rest. With a Pavati, you simply open the door and step out. Fly fisherman get in and out of their boats pretty often to sneak up on that secluded spot. A door allows you to turn and put your feet out first, testing the water depth and the solidity of your footing before you make that giant leap for mankind. If you fly fish, you've got to have this feature. See Utube video. 3. Dimples & wrinkles. As seen above, the technology is there. But some things you just have to try for yourself. Until you row a Pavati, you really won't know. Dimple technology has been around for years. Sail boats, airplanes, and even snow boards have dimples now. We are proud to be the first aluminum drift boat to do this. You won't believe it until you try it. 4. Patent pending wave cutter bow. As seen in above pictures. We were pleasantly surprised about this feature. Our original intent for the hook design bow was to give the Pavati drift boat a unique look that could be identified from a distance. Once this boat hit the water we noticed right off that when punching a curler, water was splashing off to the sides. The wave cutter bow has a sharp leading edge which starts the channeling motion. It's acute angle decreases gradually, pushing water to the sides. Traditional blunt bow designs send a blast of spray in the air only to be blown right back in your face. 5. No chine extrusion. Chine extrusions, which have a special shape, are used in many aluminum boats. It has grooves the bottom and sides slip in to which are then welded together. A good system. We use chine on some of our boats too. Chine extrusion, being thicker can also withstand more punishment from hidden rocks while traveling down river. After building a few boats using the extrusion, we decided to do an experiment to see if we could eliminate the extra labor and weight of the chine extrusion. We would instead weld the bottom to the sides in a corner to corner fashion and use a Kevlar base spray-on product on the boat bottom for protection instead. We ended up using the same process to weld the Pavati drift boats as we use to manufacture heavy gauge fuel tanks built by our parent company, Highway Products, Inc., a well known manufacture of truck bodies. After some serious rock bumping, bottom dragging, and aggressive beatings, the chine area held up with no problems. Of course, there are some beatings that no boat can withstand, even with the stronger chine extrusion. The result, there was minimal damage to the Pavati drift boat with no chine. And unexpectedly, we noticed very quickly a hidden benefit. The boat tracked much better without the chine. Why? Chine extrusion has a lip on the bottom and side which acts as a keel. The problem is keels are supposed to be straight instead of following the outside curvatures of the boat bottom. This curved keel ends up forcing the boat to react to the direction of the currents. When you have swirling currents coming from different directions you get tossed around like a basketball. If you have previously owned a drift boat you know the feeling. Here's proof. Drop the anchor and what happens? The drift boat swings back and forth. That's because the chine which has become a keel is catching water which tosses the boat around. This is really annoying. You have to put your oars in the water with the blades pointing down to act as rudders to stop this swinging motion. Same situation, the Pavati with no chine barely swings if at all with no oars in the water. Why? With no chine extrusion these swirling currents travel under the boat with little effect. Although our competitors may say Pavati drift boats have no chine, they will not track, or hold up to the punishment. Our testing tells us we do stand up to the brutality of the ragging rivers and tracking is awesome. We have to admit, there are some instances where a keel will help you steer the boat better than with no keel. There is always a trade-off. In our opinion the trade is a very good one. That's why we want you to try one yourself. If chine works better for you, we can do that too. 6. Radius stern. In a drift boat, sometimes no matter what you do your stern is pushing water. This generally happens when your boat is not balanced quite right from front to rear or you are in a strong reverse current. Pavati drift boats have a radius stern that will only lift the boat in these situations. Thus, you don't get pushed like you would in traditional drift boats with a blocked or tombstone style stern. 7. Bench style seats. We went back to the old school on this one, with a few improvements. Pavati Drift Boats have a seat track that allows you to slide the seat-back sideways to level the boat plus the seat backs can be removed for easier access to the rear of the boat. Carrying a third passenger? Simply set another seat-back in the middle. Plus we give you a nice 5 inch foam seat to sit on. After an all day float, you may appreciate this feature. We have plenty of other seat options available too. 8. Wide bottom. We've raised the ante on bottoms. Not only do we give you a high-tech dimpled bottom, we've made them wider and increased the flat area. More displacement on the water equals less draft. Less draft equals less resistance to multiple currents coming at you and you will be amazed at how stable a drift boat can be with our ultra wide bottom. 9. Rear open compartment seat. Conventional drift boats require your passengers to stand to access your front compartment seat. That's because they use a top lid opening design. Pavati Drift Boats use a drop door, opening to the back so the rower can access it without having his passengers move at all. When you open the drop door it turns into a convenient tray for putting together some lunch. 10. 12 drink holders. This may seem a little excessive but as soon as we started using our Pavati Drift Boat we had half the drink holders filled up with scissors, pliers, lures, hooks, sinkers, fly's, and even a few drinks. They make a great place to put items just to get them out of the way and stops them from rolling or blowing away. When you're in a confined place all day it's nice to be halfway organized. 11. LED lights. Comes standard with four lights. Two for the rower and one for each passenger. It's nice to have a little light in the morning when trying to tie that fisherman's knot. You simply push the button. Why not make your fishing experience a little more enjoyable. We told you about the door earlier but there is more to tell about the Pavati Drift Boats. We made an extensive effort to upgrade every part of the boat we could. But we're not quite done telling you about the little things. Each of our sales staff has their own favorites to talk about. You will too. It's a good time to purchase a new Pavati drift boat, we still have a few weeks of our show specials left. Our 50,000 sq ft facility is close to the Rogue River and we would be pleased to take you for a test drive so you can see for yourself. You will be impressed. Call 1.800.866.5269

About me:
Chuck Gros, president and designer of Pavati Marine is just getting his feet wet in the boat building business. He's a young man of 28 years and has ideas coming out of his head so fast we can't get them written down before he has another idea brewing. Chuck got his start and is presently General Manager of Highway Products, Inc. Manufactures of truck bodies, including aluminum flatbeds, service bodies, and tool boxes for pickups through semi trucks. These are just a few of the products he has been involved in the design and manufacture of. Highway Products is located in Southern Oregon's White City and was founded by the Gros family on November 22, 1980. Just so happens Chuck was born that same day. You might say he's got manufacturing in his blood. Pavati Marine is located in beautiful Southern Oregon about five miles from Medford and not far from the infamous Rogue River. Chuck Gros spent a lot of time fishing and just floating the Rogue with his family and friends in his childhood days. As he got older the passion for water sports in lakes and rivers became an obsession. He grew up in a family owned manufacturing business called Highway Products, Incorporated that still builds aluminum truck bodies, truck tool boxes, and other accessories for the trucking industry. So manufacturing came natural to Chuck. He worked his way up from empting trash cans and sweeping floors to where he is presently Company Manager of Highway Products. That was not enough for Chuck, he wanted to have his own business and since he loved being on the water he started developing ideas and plans for boats he had been thinking about for years. Thus, Pavati Marine was born. "My goal is to come up with new ideas", says Chuck. "That is what makes me tick." Although Chuck may have picked one of the toughest times in history to start a business, his new ideas, some even being patented, will give Pavati Marine an edge in a very competitive boating industry.
