Another beautiful day in the jewel of Southern California, North Park, and you hear familiar instruments and rhythms wafting through the warm summer breeze. Well then you ain’t listening to Pawnshop Cowboys cause they’re not your normal band line-up!
Of course, like all the members of the band, founder Christopher Robinson Henry has grown up with all the influences afforded any modern day music lover, but that’s where similarities end, somewhere in the twisted synapses of his psyche the music has warped into a contagious groove of indescribable music that forces hips to shake, feet to stomp and heads to bob leaving memories of songs lingering for a lifetime.
Behind Chris’s guitar and vocals is the solid rhythm section of Mikey, drummer extraordinaire and the lovely Anna thumping the intricate bass to a combo that you feel deep within you.
Now you’re saying to yourself “this all sounds fine and good, like most self promotion I’ve read before, but what makes this band different?”. The difference lies in the Horny Bastards we play with on stage, Jimmy K our bad to the bone, Trombone player, years of playing experience, and a masterfully creative artist. As with Rob Logic the Sax man, who hails from the punk rock world and adds his own flavor to our new music adventure. Shantih the third horn cannot be forgotten or ignored, as his Trumpet lifts our music one step higher than the audience would normally expect. Now there is another in our midst, a talent that will be recognized as the amazing Mr. Dean playing not your cheesy modern keyboards, but 300 lbs. of authentic Fender Rhoads electric piano, and Rheem organ, no space age sounds, but some solid boogie and honky tonk key work. All these members, plus we have guest that show up on occasion to add more to the party!
One more thing, in case you are trying to pigeonhole us, WE PLAY NO SKA! So that’s not what we’re doin with our outstanding horn section. Instead we are drawing from the many other styles throughout history that have afforded the likes of trombone players to be a part of something fun, and powerful.
Blah, blah, blah, just come to the show, it’s a guaranteed good time for all ages. We’re havin fun!
Watch for the new CD Pawnshop Cowboys Secondhand Tunes.
