About

Welcome to MySpace. I am PayTheDevil661 and I live in the great central valley of California. I love music, art, and history. I have a conservative's mind, a liberal's heart, and a libertarian's pocketbook. I admire Ronald Reagan, Walt Rostow, William Butler Yeats, Muhammed Ali, and Eleanor Roosevelt. I believe in personal responsibility and helping those that cannot help themselves. If you were born an American, you've won the lottery. Most importantly I believe in God and that all good things come from him. If you can't get your mind around the whole creator of the universe thing, then read Joseph Campbell and seek your bliss.

Words

I know hate (a.k.a. despise, loathe, revulsion, abhorrence, odium, disgust, and extreme dislike) is a very strong word. I do not use the word lightly; however, I do hate the following words in the English language: Tolerance, Acceptance, Forbearance, and Broadmindedness. I believe these words to be pejorative. To be tolerant/accepting/forbearing/broadminded, means that you have weighed, measured, and found fault with something or someone, but you are good enough to look past its faults. So far, I have only come up with the term “open” to substitute in situations in which I am presented with something that is out of my field reference or experience. Do you have any thoughts on the matter? Let me know if you do.

Thank You Mr. Lama

In our daily lives problems are bound to arise. The biggest problems in our lives are the ones that we inevitably have to face, like old age, illness, and death. Trying to avoid our problems or simply not thinking about them may provide temporary relief, but I think that there is a better approach. If you directly confront your suffering, you will be in a better position to appreciate the depth and nature of the problem. If you are in a battle, as long as you remain ignorant of the status and combat capability of your enemy, you will be totally unprepared and paralyzed by fear. However, if you know the fighting capability of your opponents, what sort of weapons they have and so on, then you're in a much better position when you engage in war. In the same way, if you confront your problems rather than avoid them, you will be in a better position to deal with them. -Dali Lama
