Biography
Paz is considered one of the best variety bands in the San Joaquin valley. Paz has been in existence since the beginning of 2006 and has quickly become very popular. They have gained the respect of many people by dazzling audiences of all ages from all parts of the world, as the result building a great following. They are admired for there versatility in performing many styles of music. Paz is a fun and exciting band that aims to please. Once you hear them you will not forget them. They are the highlight of any occasion.
Paz is composed of well-rounded musicians making it easy to perform different genres. Its members are hand picked from some of the best talent in the valley.
Johnie Lopez is considered one of the most extraordinary guitar players around. His guitar playing is rhythmical and down right funky. Johnie has shared the stage with many artists from the Gap band, Zapp & Roger, Rick James to the Chi-Lites and Stylistics. He has been on many recognized recordings. Furthermore, his sultry voice is soothing and captivating inevitably capturing the attention of audiences with his unique soulful style.
Richard Levy, is a soulful saxophonist who’s sound adds just the right touch for Paz’s taste. By playing along side his cousin Johnie Lopez for many years he has also shared moments on stage with some of the best musicians around. Richard compliments the band very well. He pours his heart and soul into every note he plays on the sax, taking Paz to yet another level.
Daniel Cervantes, is an accomplished keyboardist/pianist. As well as performing with Paz he also currently plays with the unforgettable band “Malo”, a Latin rock band who has had many hit songs over the past 35 years, most recognized “Suavecito”. Daniel performs side by side with the great guitarist Jorge Santana. He has shared the stage with some of the very best including War, Tierra, El Chicano and Tower of Power to name a few. His piano playing and background vocals are a great asset to Paz and he compliments the band with his beautiful harmonies.
Marisa Orduño is a multi-talented musician whose passion for music has taken her to great accomplishments. She is recognized for her versatility in playing several instruments and genres. She has shared the stage with many artists from Arturo Sandoval, Tito Puente, and Eddie Palmieri to Keith Sweat, Ice Cube and many more. Not only does she form a part of Paz but she also owns her own professional all-female mariachi show group “Mariachi Mujer 2000" who is recognized worldwide. Marisa is a solid pocket drummer who feels music deeply within therefore, building a strong foundation for Paz’s rhythm section.
Patrick Olvera is a very talented bass player who has toured and recorded with many accomplished musicians. Patrick has also performed with Adam Dietch of AWB (Average White Band) and John Blackwell of (Prince and the NPG). Patrick also shares the stage with smooth jazz recording artist Jeanette Harris. “Pat the Cat” definitely knows how to work the bass to it’s fullest. His playing locks right in with the rest of the rhythm section making everything fit like a perfect puzzle.
Together they form the extraordinary musical group PAZ! It is clear that they have obtained the perfect combination of talent and experience that it takes to form a successful, powerful and entertaining group. The word “Paz” means peace and that is exactly what they instill into everything they do. Music, Peace and Harmony is the key to their success.
