"A little bit folk, a little bit rock, a little bit country, a little bit not"
“The Collins family - Scott, Justin, and Kim - have clearly got the formula just right in creating music that is full to the brim with cute melodies, endless sing-along choruses, and a sound that flits between modern day whimsy and rock's more salubrious past. You can't help think that given the right "cool" label and marketing spend Pale Blue Dot could well be a happening band… buy this record at the first opportunity and just let these fourteen pop nuggets cast their own spell on you. Reference points? Think a stoned-out Neil Young with the wit and deviance of The Kinks."Americana U.K. 9 out of 10 stars
"…Every time I listen there are butterflies in my stomach. It itches where real rock 'n roll itches. Throw everything that makes music fun onto one big pile. It sweeps, sweats, swells, swings... References? Okay; The Rolling Stones, The Replacements, The Clash, Neil Young, Whiskeytown. I don't think I have to name any more. It shakes where it has to shake, and it airs where there's need for air. Every note sits perfectly crooked.”

“The numbers stretch from pure rock n’ roll and punk rock to beautiful and strongly sung ballads. Next to the fresh and energetic sound of the songs, the band's brilliant identity lies in the collaborative singing from the trio, with magnificent individual voices from each Collins. Let me be clear: this group earns barrels of credit and I suspect that we have not heard the last of sleepers Pale Blue Dot. I hope for them that international acknowledgements may shortly follow.” Rootstime.BE (Belgium) 4 ½ out of 5 horses
‘Western Scene’ is a remarkably undaunting double CD set that ought to see the band winning plenty of new converts. A ramshackle hybrid of otherworldly pop, occasional country rock and whatever direction takes their fancy, they’re as refreshingly difficult to pigeonhole as they are enjoyable to listen to. A definite keeper, more people should wake up to the fact that there’s clearly a lot more going on around Nashville than the mind-numbingly obvious. Leicester Bangs (U.K.)
"It's a family affair when East Nashville's Pale Blue Dot roll in to town with their gritty garage folk and toe-tapping, boot-stomping live show." The New Yorker
"...I quit drinking because of songs like these." Enigma Weekly
"High energy rock that socks you in the gut." Nashville City Paper
BIO:
The Collins family band Pale Blue Dot hail from East Nashville, TN USA. They play "garage folk", "dead country", and "schooly rock".
PBD's musical collaboration began when Scott left New York City in 1998 to join his younger brother Justin in East Nashville, where they busted ass writing and rehearsing songs in an abandoned trailer with no electricity thirty miles outside of town. (When asked why, they simply respond "I don't know.") PBD's synergy, sometimes described as a "southern Fleetwood Mac", was enriched by the addition of Scott's wife Kim, a multi-instrumentalist with a mystifying knack for harmony, and finally rounded out with shoe-string bassist Mike Whitty and washboard toting drummer Kyle Walsh. When thinking of Pale Blue Dot, it has been said to think of a "stoned out Neil Young with the wit and deviance of The Kinks". It has also been said that Pale Blue Dot make you feel like you're riding in the back seat of a station wagon in 1975. Hailing from a town noted for polished perfection, Pale Blue Dot are loved or hated for their fearless ragged energy, relying more on gut than technique and possessing a demanding presence and distinct sound that are a result of who they naturally are, not what guitars or amps they arm themselves with.
