What you hear playing was recorded live at the Ward Hotel Ballroom, December of 2004, in Aberdeen by Aberdeen Originals. If you would like to hear more of that recording you'll have to visit the Audio section of their website or come out and check out a live show. Bass, Harp and Drum tracks have been finished for their upcoming release which will be a great rendition of where their sound has traveled since 2004.
Pops Blue Rhythm Band was formed during the summer of 2003 in Aberdeen, SD. The band was originally a fusion of two long-running local blues bands and an original rock band. Members from the three bands joined to create an aggressive blues/rock sound. This five-piece group quickly established a reputation as a hard-hitting, high-energy ensemble.
Musical tastes of the group include the Allman Brothers Band, Rolling Stones, The Funk Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, Johny Lang, Eric Clapton, Willie Dixon, Freddie King, Howlin Wolf, Doobie Brothers, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Robert Johnson as well as other influences. Pops also performs original, harmonica-driven numbers, some of which are included on their CD. The new focus on writing is a high energy mix of many different styles of music which the band likes to label as Maximum R&B.
Over the last 4 years the band has seen many changes. Most recently they have added Keys and Saxophone which brings a whole new dimension to the music. For the rest of the bands Bio please visit http://www.pbrband.net.
