Damn, I'm getting older and I don't want to! It seems like yesterday that I was just starting out, sneaking in the pubs when I wasn't old enough, drinking too much and throwing up on the way home. Best thing was I went with my Uncle and we had a good laugh. His dad, my grandad would have killed him if he had ever known.
I still like drinking and nothing beats a good night in the pub with your mates, I just don't need to get smashed all the time any more because, well , it's just stupid to drink that much, that you can't control or look after yourself properly. There are some nasty bas***ds in this world, don't make it easy for them to have a go at you.
I really hated smoking. Mum and dad both smoked and it smelled real bad, I didn't want to smoke for sure. Best mate changed that by constantly encouraging me to try one. He was like Mrs Doyle out of Father Ted, "Go on, go on,go on, will you have one". Unfortunately in the end I did and I was dead meat because i loved it.
Jump forward 17 years and I suddenly realise the cigarettes are slowly killing me and making me really unhealthy, getting out of breath with little or no effort or exertion is not a good feeling to have. It was time to stop and I did. Never felt better than I do now. I set up a site with quit smoking info on it.
I got married, I got a house, I got cats! All things I would have laughed at when I was 17 or 18 and said no chance! won't happen to me! Well, I was wrong and I don't mind admitting it. I enjoy my life and hope everyone else gets every opportunity to enjoy their own and achieve their dreams.
