In 1998, cousins Will Davis and Kendall James came up with the idea to have a post thrash metal band. Growing up listening to bands like: Iron Maiden, Metallica, Pantera, ANthrax and so on, both being guitarists decided to set out on what they thought would be the "Adventure of a Lifetime".
Origons Pensacola Headbangers/Project Satan
Will and Kendall met another talented guitarist, Jeff Seagers in 1999 at a Slipknot concert after, in the words of the 3, beating eachother to death during "Spit". Jeff Introduced them to Bassist Josh Thompson and Drumer Korey Jones. Nameing them selves the Pensacola Headbangers and eventually Project Satan, started playing small clubs around the Pensacola area most commonlyThe Daily Grind. They mostly coverd songs that influenced the groups start, wih 2 songs that were Written by Will: My Bloody Valentine, and Bloody Hell. The band has 1 album released in the Gulf Coast area.
16 Needles
In 2001, Josh and Korey left the group to "chase other dreams", leaveing the group stranded. The group met Steven Johnson at school during a talent contest, whare he won 1st place for a keyboard solo. When Jeff asked him if he was in a band he said no and was more than willing to join them as the keyboardist for a new project named Slitt. One day Zach Peoples came to Wedgewood Middle School and made friends with Kendall almost as soon as they met, Will just getting out of Juvi wasn't to big on the new guy in the group. After a week of Zach, referd to as Demo, and Will hitting eachoher in the testicals, looked eachother in the eyes and said "This is the beginning of a beautful frendship". Tara Macentosh, at he time Will's girlfriend play bass and joind them. They recorded a demo and sent it to many record componies. One day RoadRunner asked them to come in for a possible contract. Whe asked he ame they hadn actally decided on te name of the band, so one night Will and Jeff were messing with Needles and made a Pentagram with 16 of them. They told the other members about it and they decided on 16 Needles. Roadrunner put them on a Supporting tour for Slipknot who at the time were tourig for the Iowa album. Once returnng to America, on a day of fun, the group was playing football and in an attempt to cath the ball Jeff ran into the road and was hit by a passing car. The driver got away with a hit and run, leaveing Jeff paralized.
After the accdent the band tried doing a small East Coast American tour wth fellow Pensacola band IN The Night. After Releaseing their debut album "Bloody Hell" on Roadrunner Records the band had reached a high Levle of Sucess in some cties in America, and the UK. Will wrote a song about his feelings for Tara called "Let Me Down". The band then opend for Metallica in October of 2002.
First Split
In the middle of 2003, Will and Kendall began haveing problems with the friendship that they had. Will and the other members attempted to tour but they and stated in an interview that it just wasn't there anymore. The Band Disapeard for 2 years, and was droped by Roadrunner.
Return/rehab
In 2005, Will, Kendall, and Demo wanted to get things going again, thus enlisting Kody Williams, a good friend of the group for a few years. The group then met Mike Burns, Tyler Smith and Jared Roberts (JR). Mike beng a basist and the boyfrind of Kendall's younger sister joind without resist, Jared was inspired by Clown of Slipknot t play a more abstract precussion for the band. JR, being a bassist took care of the more complex basslines. With tiste band recorded their first Live album 16 Needles Live On The Beach, filmed on Pensacola Beach in Augest of 05. Th Band went on break shortly after due to Will going to a rehab fecility for heavy drug use.
Carnival Of Chaos
In late 2006, Will met a girl that in his view was The One, and drew much of the insperation for the new album. Niki McDowell would eventually be the reason of the Collaspe of bonding brotherhood between Founding Members Will and Kendall. Carnival Of Chaos was the 7th album released, but the second major release Peaking 15 on the indie band release charts. The Bands Tour for this album was canceld due to Will not wantingto be far from his love.
In 2007, within 3 months the world of 16 Needles would come crashing into the ground. The Split between Will and Niki..leaveing him in complete depression, the death of Charles Graham, and Kendall starting fights with Will, and leaveing the group, didn't help Will's depression. The band without Kendall went on the Carnival Of Chaos tour, The bands First and to this date only World Tour. Recording the second live album Needles in Germany. The losses bought out a darker side of Will.
Long Road To Ruin
In late 2007, in an intrvew on Fuse music TV Will announced te band was finishing their New Album set to release January 15th 2008. The Album was Called Long Road To Ruin,although The Foo Fighters just release an album with the same title. The album was darker and more deep with meaning.The band played 2 shows then Will got several outbreaks of Staph infections all over his body. Friends, family, and the band figured that that would be it for now.
The End Of 16 Needles
Mid 2008, all the members had their own personal lives sorted out, but were all missng the machine that was 16 Needles. Will announced on local radio station, TK101, tha te band asgetting back together to play 1 last show befoe burying thprojet for god,at least for a few years. They played their last show At The Pensacola Fairgrounds in October. Will announced he was leaveing the band to focus on his personal life stateing "For so long i have dedicated myself to music not fully allowing myslef to really commit myself to anything else. I hope to possibly start a family soon and finish my education. I love all of you who have suported us, been thre, and gave us some of the best memories. Thank you." Then the band played a very emotional cover of Nicklebacks "Photograph". As They walked off stage for the last time, The Crowd cheerd for them knowing that this was the end of their Home town boys.
Will is curently searching for standard work.
Zach is a Born Again Christian and is possibly going ot have a Christianrock group with Will and a few of ther friends.
