I love music (especially live); driving very fast; vintage clothes & cars; ink; traveling; photography; museums; body surfing; biking and going to hockey games! I speak/read/write French, German and limited Russian. I also like Sashimi, Sake, and I adore Hello Kitty (I've even been to Sanrio Puroland aka Hello Kittyland in Japan - not expressly for that purpose, but when I was there on business/holiday my Japanese friends set it up for me). I'm an incurable romantic.
Music
Alternative rock, industrial, electronic, punk, rockabilly, psychobilly, surf, techno, trance, experimental classical, ambient noise... having lots of good music to listen to is very important to me. I hosted an alternative music program on a college radio station in the Los Angeles area from 1987-1991.
Favorite bands: THE CURE, NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS/GRINDERMAN, SONIC YOUTH, BAUHAUS/TONES ON TAIL/LOVE AND ROCKETS and EINSTUERZENDE NEUBAUTEN.
I became a Johnny Cash lover at the tender age of 2 when I got hooked on his weekly television series, The Johnny Cash Show... those programs are STILL amazing to watch today. I grew up in Chicago, so I was raised on Ministry and I used to go to a lot of all ages shows (Black Flag, The Cramps...) at the Cabaret Metro when I was 15-16. From 17-18, I lived in Germany - where I was lucky enough to see some amazing shows at smaller venues, including Sonic Youth, X-MAL Deutschland, Einstuerzende Neubauten and The Fall.
Depending on my mood, there are so many other bands I enjoy listening to, including The Raveonettes, M83, The B52's, Pixies, Brian Eno, Interpol, Portishead, Front 242, Nine Inch Nails, Severed Heads, Gary Numan, Front Line Assembly, Pink Industry, The Neon Judgement, The Residents, Trisomie 21, Soviet France, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance and all the 4AD bands, Dick Dale, The Ventures, John Cage... all sorts of things, really.
It's fantastic that some of the great bands I started listening to 20-25 years ago are still going strong and working on new projects... in particular THE CURE, who are so fucking amazing and better than ever. I just saw them in April '09 in Las Vegas and at Coachella. They were some of the best live performances I've ever seen... and I've seen a lot!
Favorite favorite: Simon Gallup of The Cure

Babe I got you bad
Dreaming blood-wet dreams
only madmen have
Baby I got you bad
I wish to God I never had
And it makes me feel so sad,
O, Baby I got you bad
Yeah, Babe I got you bad
I long for your kiss,
for the turn of your mouth
Your body is a long thing
Heading South
And I don't know what I'm talking about
All of my words have gone mad
Ah, baby I got you bad
Seasons have gone wrong
And I lay me down in a bed of snow
Darling, since you've been gone
well my hands, they don't know where to go
And all of my teeth are bared,
I got you so much I'm scared
Ah, baby I got you bad
With the sweep of my hand
I undid all the plans
that explode at the moment I kissed you
on your small hot mouth
and your caramel limbs
that are hymns to the glory that is you.
Look at me darlin' it's sad sad sad
Look at me darlin' it's sad sad sad
Baby I got you bad
Smoke bilowing from the bridges
and the rivers we swim in are boiling
My hands are reaching for you everywhere
but you're not there, or you're recoiling
and a weary moon dangles from a cloud
Oh honey, I know it's not allowed
To say I got you bad.
I got you bad...
I got you bad...
I got you bad...

I keep trying to see what Porl's wearing on that photo :) it looks like an odd white shirt? I think his clothes all look fab though! Considering he's gone from his hippy-style from KMKMKM, etc eras! More tattoos = more goth!!
I've hardly got any time off over the holidays! I'm also on call over Christmas and Boxing Day, but I'll work from home if I get anything. I'll be at work in between Christmas and New Year. Next year, I'm booking the whole lot off! We'll be having a quiet holiday, maybe get people round to ours for a change instead of us driving here there and everywhere!!
That's weird, I don't know where it was (tv most likely!) but I saw a place called Los Gatos! Wait, I know where it was... there was a tv program that was about America's Next Inventor or something, and one of the contestants was from there, I think it was the guy who won it.
I'm pleased you're spending some time at home. I'd hate for you to burn yourself out! And what with the holiday period looming... 5 weeks or something and I've not got a thing sorted!!! What do you usually do for Christmas?
Just had to show you this video, have been meaning to show you for ages but am such a forgetful girl that i haven't. Wouldn't it be cool if Nick Cave did a whole film like this, he really would have suited being in Sweeny Todd, he would have been so evilly cool in it!
