• Bio

Squid Attack! is an Alternative Rock n' Roll group from Portland, Oregon. It consists of father-son team of vocalist, guitarist and songwriter, Issac Scott and drummer, Sid Scott. On bass and homemade guitar is Panda. Press: "They join such other famous father/son bands as Mystery Jets, Spanic Boys, '60s rockers Spirit, David Crosby's CPR, and the latest incarnation of Van Halen (I think Gary Cherone's kid is in it). But dad behind the kit is no gimmick, and the band's 3 More debut EP is a pretty solid foundation to build from." - Portland Mercury "Did I mention you should really listen to Squid Attack a local Portland group. I like it!" - KBOO DJ Love Jonze "These seasoned artists displayed astonishing confidence, crashing into their first song. Issac Scott entranced the crowed with his intricately crafted lyrics. Acting as a homage to primal Modest Mouse, their shouting vocals and reverbed guitars more than adequately demonstrated their remarkable finesse." - The Wilson High School Statesman

Press

"...the father-son duo behind Squid Attack, would rather spend their time playing bleak, haunting and sparse indie rock songs. On the duo's recent five-track, self-titled EP (where they are joined by bassist/guitarist Ben West), Squid Attack proves itself more than just a gimmick by utilizing Issac's alarmingly grown-up vocals—how many kids do you know who sound like Blood on the Tracks-era Dylan?—and some stirring minimal songwriting." - Willamette Week

"A father/son band like Squid Attack! might appear to be a cheap gimmick that places novelty over quality, but there is something very real about the younger Scott's still-evolving skill as a frontman. With a weathered voice far beyond his years (inexplicably enough, he sounds like David Byrne) ... the gentle "Samana Clay" is a wondrous work of jangling rock precision and the epic "Grass House/The Moth" rewards listeners with an abrupt tempo shift at the song's halfway point. Issac, have fun in college, but don't you dare put that guitar down anytime soon." - The Portland Mercury

"They join such other famous father/son bands as Mystery Jets, Spanic Boys, '60s rockers Spirit, David Crosby's CPR, and the latest incarnation of Van Halen (I think Gary Cherone's kid is in it)...But dad behind the kit is no gimmick, and the band's 3 More debut EP is a pretty solid foundation to build from." - Portland Mercury End Hits
