The mission of the Peacedriven Campaign is to energize social activists as well as empower a new generation to act. Our major concerns are violence, human rights, poverty, education and environmental protection.
Do you have the drive?
In the words of Nobel laureate Wangari Mathaai: "Those of us who understand the complexity of peace have the burden to act … we must not tire, we must not give up, we must persist." These words are the essence of Peacedriven.
Under the Peacedriven banner are projects like the Peacedriven Songwriting Award, recognizing those who use music to inspire social change. Australian musician Jeff Sheppard won the first annual contest with his song "Can't Change the World". Holly Light of California won the 2007 award for her song "Rising Up." The winner of the 3rd contest will be announced on February 20, 2009.
We are currently developing public service announcements and outreach programs. The campaign is also driven by your input, so if you have artwork, stories, videos, projects or other content to share, contact us below and we will post it on our blog.
The Peacedriven Campaign is the winner of the Doublemint Grant from Venus and Serena Williams, the National Youth Visionary Award from Streetlaw, Inc., the YouthVenture Grant, and the Bryan Public Service Fellowship from the University of North Carolina.

Thanks so much for your work, and for giving my song an honorable mention. It's great to know others are out there putting so much heart into their work.
Hello new friends, Thank you for recognizing my song "A Prayer for Peace" with an honorable mention in this year's song contest. I appreciate the encouragement. Wishing you success in your work for peace. ~ Tom
Hey there music lovin' friend! We just posted a new song. Drop by for a listen when you get a moment. It's called "SPRING SONG." In fact, most of the songs on our music player have been posted very recently. Check 'em out. Cheers!
WOW! I am in LOOOOOVE with the song "Why the Fighting" It's one of those songs you say to yourself that you wish you'd written it!
I think I listened to it on here 20 times yesterday. It makes me feel so incredibly good! Best medicine for my moment. Hits me exactly where I need it. How do I get myself copies of your PeaceDriven CD??? Can I download my favourite songs on itunes?
Let me know. ps - what a great idea this whole thing is! Exactly what we need going on ;-)
Congratulations on finding the 2007 winner. Great to see another successful year of songwriting for Peace. It was and still is an extremely proud moment finding out my song had won the 2006 Peacdriven Song competition. I hope every year sees more and more people joining in to write songs to inspire a better world. Keep driving guys.
