Kunlun Gardens in Longtan, Taoyuan County is the venue for three days of peace, love, and music in the mountains. Come on out and raise your consciousness, connect with your fellow humans, boogie to the beats, jam, explore, make new friends, relax, and feel the temperature of peace. Live bands start Friday evening and will be followed by DJs. Live music on Saturday kicks off around noon and music goes into the wee hours. Sunday features music that goes all afternoon. ****** As always, Peacefest proceeds (after covering festival expenses) go directly to charity. Food and merchandise vendors on-site also contribute a portion of their profits to the selected charities. ****** 2008 beneficiary charities were: Taiwan International Worker's Association; TransAsia Sisters Association, Taiwan (TASAT); Basic Human Needs; Adopt-A-Minefield.org; and Compassion International Taiwan. Peacefest CDs will be available on site. Pick one up and benefit a good cause. Interested in sponsoring this year's event? Send email to: contact@hopingforhoping.com Peacefest always needs volunteers. As you know this years May Jam will be 3rd & 4th of May.
In case you want to be a part of this low key event with great music and friendship, all you need to do this year is, send me to my email account, name of you Band, how many members, kind of instruments you play, a recent picture of your Band and three recent recordings.

axel.ainjali@msa.hinet.net

As well as before a 1000 NT$ safety deposited which I will hopefully return right away and I hope that you will be after your money and push the guy who handles all of that, which will hopefully Cedric again.
The money you send to after I received your mp3's and I confirmed that you take part at the May Jam.

Hey no Techno this year ok...Or at least keep a techno set down to a bands set and they have to quit at 3 am or something and then people can chill to the nature and shit without being chased off by paranoid sound effects and war like drum beats that never change... Just a suggestion for next year.

Hi,

here are the dates for this years 9th Tainan May Jam event, May 3rd and 4th and for all insiders the 2nd will be a part of the official May Jam at three or four locations in town it all depends on you taste of music. We will rock the city quiet nicely this year.
Good news is I have almost all money together but need way more, hope as always for your great cooperation and join some of the pre concerts and play for free.
Poster /Logo is done and will be out soon.
You will find on various web sites lots of infos about the May Jam.
Posters will be out soon too and hope that every one can give me a helping hand.
Will confirm all pre May Jam dates soon, so that you can get ready to be a part of the event in your town.

I'm thrilled that things go well and that everything so far is in the good mood.
The weather is always a factor but don't worry the guys from the open meditation at Ananada Marga do their best to help out. The are chanting that BABANAM KEVALAM mantra 24-7 that apparently should be very helpful, lets hope they are right ;-)

Cheers
Axel

At Peacefest, Why Respect Animal Rights?
Almost all of us grew up eating meat, wearing leather, and going to circuses and zoos. We never considered the impact of these actions on the animals involved or the diseases and pollution it causes to all's all (even those who don't partake suffer from a greater mass' actions) Peace is holistic. Our human minds may not all at once permit such things which could disturb it's trained logic but if you can feel this in your heart for a moment , you may follow the rap.

One may be clever to reply "Does an apple not suffer?"...I am not sure but I have confirmed who does.

Think free-range farms or the sea is the answer? The Earth is only so big sisters and brothers and the sea ain't small but we have made her suffer greatly as well and as populations rise it won't get better.

Nobody minds hanging out in the garden but when was the last time you enjoyed your afternoon at a slaughterhouse? Never been to one? Try it for a couple hours. They are everywhere in Taiwan.
Then make the comparison for yourself.

For whatever reason, you might now be asking the question: Why should animals have rights?

Peace and Rights are from the same source: Freedom. But Freedom is only limited when we take away other's Freedom.
Animals live on Earth too and Human's have long chosen to be exempt from the natural food-chain and there are no "survival of the fittest" rationales left since what ever we want, we take and we have forgotten how to live IN nature and have chosen to live beside it. So be it. However, that requires a new way of understanding the meaning of Peace as it relates to us NOW. Not a thousand years ago.
Besides, the last place I went where there was a near basic survival instinct still in play was India and that is the most non-meat-eating land I have ever visited.
With out the need for meat farms, there would easily be enough food for all...even India.
Peace

Great peace fest this year, my first and I enjoyed the time very much.
Hope to be again a performing act at the next event in 2008 too. Further more my hopes go out to the people in Iraq that the insanity there comes to a stop.
Thanks for all.
