  • Bio

TOMMI AVICOLLI MECCA has been writing songs since he was a teen. His style has always been a little of this, a little of that, but his influences are jazz, folk and 60s rock. He has performed in a number of musical ventures, including a high school band called Spontaneous Creation, two duos: The Queer Boys, and Tallase and Mecca (two of our songs, "c'mon" and "october song" are featured) and, more recently, the Peaceniks. He currently performs solo and with other musicians and singers, including the Peaceniks, at rallies and events. His song, "Living Wage" has been used by the SF living wage movement in its documentary. All songs are by Tommi Avicolli Mecca and copyrighted, but feel free to ask for copies if you want to use them.
  • Members

"C'mon and october song" feature Ted Tallase on vocal and flute on the latter and backup vocal on the former. "All the sons" and "Everybody knows" features Diana Hartman on backup vocals. "All the sons" with viola has Diana on backup vocals and David Wallace on that beautiful viola.
  • Influences

Everything from the Beatles and Joni Mitchell to John Coltrane and Miles Davis. In between there is a whole host of artists from Laura Nyro and Billie Holiday to flamenco guitarists and of course Ella, Sarah, Nina Simeon and Ben Webster. Long live jazz!

ABOUT TOMMI

TOMMI AVICOLLI MECCA has been writing songs since he was a teen. His style has always been a little of this, a little of that, but his most obvious influences are jazz, folk and 60s rock. He has performed in a number of musical ventures, including a high school band called Spontaneous Creation (it was the the late 60s, what can I say?), and two duos: The Queer Boys, and Tallase and Mecca (two of their songs, "c'mon" and "october song" are featured on this site) and more recently with the Peaceniks. He currently performs solo and with other musicians and singers, including the Peaceniks, at rallies and events in the Bay Area. His song, "Living Wage" has been used by the SF living wage movement in its documentary. As for the other songs on this site, "c'mon and october song" feature Ted Tallase on vocal and flute on the latter and backup vocal on the former. "All the sons" and "Everybody knows" includes Diana Hartman on backup vocals. "All the sons" with viola has Diana on backup vocals and David Wallace on that beautiful viola. All songs are by Tommi Avicolli Mecca and copyrighted, but feel free to ask for copies if you want to use them.
