TOMMI AVICOLLI MECCA is the songwriter and guitarist/vocalist whose wit and way with words has penned the group such popular songs as "Yuppie yuppie stole my pad" (a comment on the housing situation in SF); "All the sons" (an anti-war song) and "Baby in America." All can be heard on this site.
DIANA HARTMAN is the vocalist. Whether it's lead, backup or harmony, count on Diana to excel at it. She also sings with choruses and also can sing a cappello like an angel.

Influences
Everything from the Beatles and Joni Mitchell to John Coltrane and Miles Davis.
The peaceniks were formed out of a desire to bring music to San Francisco's many, many protests. We were originally four but now two of us play around town at benefits, protests and fundraisers for various causes. We sing for an end to war, an end to social injustice, an end to all of the things that separate us and keep us down. TOMMI AVICOLLI MECCA has been writing anti-war songs since the anti-Vietnam War days. Though his subject matter is a little broader now, he continues using wit and outrageousness to convey his message. DIANA HARTMAN is a vocalist par excellence. She sings lead, backup and harmony. She, too, has spent many years in the trenches fighting for social justice.
