The Peace Through Music Festival was created in 2008 by 3 young men who were all still attending high school at the time named Jack Lewis, Chase Williams, and Dylan "Wildman" Haines. At the same time, these 3 young men were creating a band named Under the Sun in Columbus, Ohio. As they worked on the creation of these 2 positive things, they slowly became recognized for being a band. Finally, from July 25 to 26, 2008, Under the Sun hosted the first year of The Peace Through Music Festival or Peace Fest.
Peace Fest is a BENEFIT music festival held at the beautiful Zane Shawnee Caverns, which is Shawnee Native American land (NOT RESERVATION LAND), located at 7092 State Route 540 in Bellefontaine, Ohio. It is a festival that promotes PEACE, LOVE, RESPECT, and MUSIC!!! The reason why it is held as a benefit is in order to help fund the Shawnee Native American United Remnant Band and land of the Zane Shawnee Caverns.
The Zane Shawnee Caverns, as said previously, is located in Bellefontaine, Ohio, which is a part of Logan County. By this land being where it is, means that Logan County loses money. The Shawnee tribe owns the land of the caverns. Logan County has no say. Basically, this means that Logan County can't build a Wal-mart or some bull-s**t on this land, in order to make more tax dollars off of people and what-not. So, we make sure that the majority of the total proceeds go towards making sure that the land is upkept, so that it will pass inspections made by the state of Ohio. This ensures that the land stays safe, clean, and ultimately beautiful. We ask that you help us with this when you attend Peace Fest, by doing such things as making sure to throw away your trash, put your cigarette butts out and throw them in the trash, watch out for your fellow brothers and sisters, and make sure to give and have PEACE, LOVE, RESPECT, and MUSIC.
Also, we help fund the Shawnee Native American United Remnant Band, which is made up of tribal Shawnee people who's direct ancestors are the same people who followed Tecumseh and later his brother, after Tecumseh's death in 1813. There is a gourge on/in this land where Tecumseh himself gave a speech to the Shawnee people.
So, hopefully all of you brothers and sisters can understand the intensity of the history of this land and why we make this a benefit. Please help keep this land beautiful and safe for many years to come.
PEACE, LOVE, RESPECT, and MUSIC!!! -Under the Sun
