Wolfgang Baron von Hildebrandt is an exceptional singer, songwriter and human rights activist from Cologne, Germany.Born June 29, 1960, Wolfgang was raised in Düsseldorf, Germany, where, thanks to the positive influence of his father, he began his musical career on the piano and guitar at the age of six.Wolfgang went on to study music intensively for over 14 years and became the lead singer of a major choir and later, choir director
Wolfgang is a spirited, charismatic and joyful musician who has been on a lifelong quest to promote a spirit of unity through his music. Wolfgang's accomplishments now include the successful recording of 10 CD's and over 100 songs for listeners of all ages, backgrounds and walks of life.In 1997 Wolfgang turned down an offer as the lead singer for the German Military Band and focused his efforts on pursuing his quest to turn guns into guitars as a focus of his musical career.Needless to say, his efforts were very successful as proven by winning his first contract with EMI records that spanned the years 1997-2005.
This brilliant singer found himself in front of an amazing audience, with his first major performance for Pope John II and Opera Singer, Andrea Bocelli in Paris, France.Five years later, on September 11, 2001, Wolfgang composed the European song “Lets Build a House of Peace” and dedicated it to the people of New York. On this day that lives on forever in the minds of so many Americans, Wolfgang took it upon himself to motivate and inspire young, enthusiastic NYPD officers to come together in a spirit of unity, and in their spare time team up with Wolfgang to record the chorus and back up vocals for this very touching song.Wolfgang and the newly formed NYPD choir recorded this song in the Electriclady Studios, New York.The German Chancellor, Gerhard Schroeder, then gave the CD as a gift from the German Government to then US President George W. Bush.
Wolfgang made his first performance for the United Nations in 2005 with the song he composed entitled, “United Nations”, under the musical direction of Emmy Award Winner, John Wineglass.Appropriately, the event was held at the UN Headquarters on July 3rd, 2005 in the Dag Hammarskjöld Library Auditorium in front of top official representative staff members and visitors of 191 Nations.Over six (6) million people throughout Europe viewed this outstanding performance presented by Wolfgang.The entire performance was recorded by ARD-TV station and was later made into a television documentary.
Wolfgang's political and spiritual beliefs are greatly inspired by the man that he still views to this day as his mentor, the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.He places his keenly discerning artistic ability in the service of helping others and spreading peace.He's done this through many TV campaigns, charities and concerts in Austria, Africa, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Paris, Texas, New York and more
Wolfgang later received an award as the Global Civil Society Champion for 2007 by the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) for his outstanding work.Included in many of his awards is one from Lord Mayor Fritz Schramma of Cologne, Germany, for his humanitarian work and charity performances.He also received a very special “Clown d' Honeur Award” from the World Parliament of Clowns for which he is very proud.
The Earth Society Foundation, founded by John McConnell and Margaret Meade, asked him to perform yet again at the United Nations and the The Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations in New York wanted to honor him because of his songs promoting the spirit of coexistence and cooperation as enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.So in the early hours, 1:48 AM, on March 20, 2008, Wolfgang's magnificent voice filled the UN Peace Garden with the spirituality of unity during the annual Peace Bell Ringing Ceremony commemorating the original Earth Day
As Wolfgang's impressive career continued to emerge, he received the distinguished honour of being knighted as a Baron by Katharina Princess Sobieski zu Schwarzenberg.Princess Sobieski is one of the last living relatives of the King of Poland, John III Sobieski, one of the most notable monarchs of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
Throughout his career, Wolfgang has been an advocate for civil rights and humanitarian causes and holds a lifetime membership with the N.A.A.C.P.In 2005 Wolfgang founded the International World Peace Tour and is Chairman, CEO, and Founder of the World Peace Tour 4 Children (WPT4C), which will produce worldwide concert tours.WPT4C will soon be a US 501(c)(3) with its first concert set to take place in the United States on September 21st, 2010.These concerts will feature local and famous artists promoting peace and tolerance around the globe.Wolfgang does all this while simultaneously developing projects worldwide in order to educate and empower children.
