It all begins with one guy, the one who dragged the name high to the top of the Reunionese rock stage...
Since nappies times, Fabien has been bathed in Metallica tunes and fed Nirvana songs. No surprise then that when he hits 18, having learned on his own how to play his favs on his brand new beige Stratocaster Squier (thanks, Santa...), he decides that playing alone is not worth it. After a few rehearsals here and there with various bands-to-be like Bombscare, he goes ahead and cobbles together his own group from scratches. His friends Vincent (drums) and Mami (bass) come into play while Fabien sticks to voices and guitar; and that's when fun starts.
Moving from covers to covers such as "Come as you are" or "Nothing else matters", they gain momentum and start shaping the band's spirit with a couple of own songs. By this time the band's name still needs to be picked but the folks begin gigging around in Saint-Denis, giving themselves a chance. After their first stage at their secondary school in late 1998, the pace is set and they all get to re-baptize the band; Timesquare and The Edits not working that much. They eventually come up with Peachy in 1999, that really fits the group's mood (could have been worse: one once proposed "Shaamans"...). A new rock band was born, up'n'coming...
2001 is a keystone when they record two of their major songs, In my car and Shuffle off, before releasing their first album named Read my lips.
Since then Peachy has never stopped touring, getting known in main musical events on the island and abroad. They appear at places well-known by rock fans: Palaxa, Bato Fou, Cyclone Café, Bar Américain, Saint-Hubert, ... and even prestigious Bull & Gate and King's Head in London during the band's 2-year stay in the UK.
Back home in 2004, Peachy gets short-listed for a music contest organised locally by a national bank looking for talented young artists. Peachy's compo "Headache" stands out and ranks 4th, driving the eminent jury's eyes onto the band.
A second album is launched in 2005: "69 Again" confirms the band's influences from Placebo, Muse and Jeff Buckley, while a certain maturity gives Peachy a new gain in musical accuracy and synergy between the members on stage.
A new series of gigs then kicks off, dragging around rock fans under the spell of Peachy's rousing voice and rounded tunes.
10 fresh titles are currently at work for the upcoming Catapult Project album. This 3rd one is expected to hit the racks by the end of the year... maybe early 2007 if you don't happen to be good boys.
Anyhow let's take the bet that it will get Peachy a new standing ovation from their fans and fans-to-be! That's all they need!
What are their plans, would you ask? Make as much noise as possible, through gigs and through the net, put all songs online to get known, make many interesting musical encounters... and Jeez, don't forget it: create, keep it simple and have fun!
