I guess you could split it up into three categories: My family, Spirituality, and Outdoors Sports.
Spending time with my wife and kids is second to none. Watching their (kids') character and personality develop and being instrumental in that is amazing - and scary.
Christian Spirituality is a phenomenal way of living - it is real, exhilirating, adventuresome - anything but tame - and the only way of living if you ask me.
And finally Outdoors Sports - mountaineering, backcountry skiing, cycling, triathlon, climbing, etc - being out in the elements and pushing yourself, feeling alive! I've actually been into the whole triathlon scene quite a bit this year. Back in Feb, I decided to give this whole thing a go, so I started swimming. I never would've thought I'd be doing an ironman - but as of Sept. 15, 2007, I completed my first ironman on a ba-rutal course and am still living to tell about it. Next is the Coeur d' Alene Ironman in June '08. This is crazy stuff!

I am a seeker. A seeker of Truth and of the genuine, meaningful things of what life is all about. What I'm really after is the heart of God. I'm running after Jesus Christ with all my might. So, in a sense, I believe I've found what I'm looking for. But in another, I know that there is so much I have to learn, so much more to find. (U2's song says it right). I believe in the Spirituality that Jesus brought us and lived in front of us. That is the goods. There is so much freedom there, so much joy. It's the ultimate adventure and the ultimate reality. 'Cuz when you live for Christ, you give Him your life. And He says, "Do you trust Me? Do you really trust Me?" "Then let's go. I'm going to take you places you would've never dared to go." So, it's a journey then, full of experiences, both good and bad (perceived), whereby we have a opportunity to learn and to see!
THE GATHERING - Every Tuesday Night at 7:00. Where we connect - with God and with eachother. Can't miss it.
JANUARY 26, SATURDAY. Snowshoe trip up to Mt. Rainier (most likely)!
HERE'S THE DILL :) Go to Joe's Outdoors (by Walmart) and rent your snowshoes and poles for $11 on Friday (the 25th) as soon as after 12 noon as you can. If you go too late, you might not get any. Meet down at the church Saturday morn and we'll leave promptly at 8, ya hear me?!
WHAT TO BRING: Snow jacket and pants (Gore-tex type is best), thermals or whatever you need to stay warm (try to avoid cotton and go with polyester stuff if you can), warmish boots, hat, gloves, sun glasses, a small backpack so you can shed or add clothing layers, a snack, a thing of water (at least 16 oz), and a few bucks so we can grab a bite on the way home. You need to let me know by The Gathering on the 22nd if you're going!
FEBRUARY 15-18, FRIDAY THRU MONDAY, PRESIDENT'S DAY WKND
So...Usually we travel a ways for our winter retreat. But this year, we're staying close, 'cuz let's face it, the skiing doesn't get any better and if people can only make it for a couple days or whatever, that would be possible for them since it's closer. We're staying at a pretty sweet cabin that's just a few min from the hill and you'll have a good time guaranteed whether you're a skier, boarder, or neither.
COST: $80 plus lift tix which are $58. The $80 includes all the food and lodging which is a screamin deal.
HEADS UP: Stay on the look out for what to bring and for what the Spiritual emphasis will be - you'll have an opportunity, if you so desire, to come prepared on that front as well :).
DEPOSIT: I need a non-refundable deposit of $25 due by Sunday, Feb 10. You might think that's stupid, but we've been screwed in the past by people who promised to go and then bailed at the last minute, leaving us high and dry. This is just a protection against flakiness :).
Just a little show from our winter retreat to Mt. Bachelor last year :) Pimp My Profile
