I am a 41 year old college student working toward my BA in English literature. My partner and I were married at San Francisco City Hall in 2004.
I miss my friend Phyllis, an American exile living in England with her partner Helen. Because of American immigration policy (and the stubborn ignorance of politicians) Phyllis and Helen had to leave America to live in England where they were able to obtain a civil marriage. The extension of civil rights by the UK government allows Helen to extend to Phyllis the citizenship she is barred from extending to Helen in the US because our federal government refuses to acknowledge same sex relationships.
Thanks for adding The Bilerico Project as a friend! We hope to see you on the site often participating in the community. You never know what you'll find!
