About me: ____________________ -Mel May has been in the tattooing industry since 1992. She started out in Portland, Maine where she first learned the trade, then moving to Burlington, Vermont to spread some ink. The first legal shop opened in Burlington was her shop located in town called "The Tattoo Company". She then expanded to a shop in Burlington on the Church Street Marketplace called "Tuff Skins Tattoos". Before the Burlington experience Mel May moved to San Francisco where she tattooed for many different people all over the city. Then making the move back to Portland, Maine, where she has been in the tattoo community since the late 80's on and off, depending on what side of the country she was on. She is an active artist with drawing and oil painting.
