Conociendo a PeeWee
Es muy guapo, con los pies en la tierra, y canta con pasión y expresión desenfrenadas. PeeWee empezó como una sensación repentina, pero ha demostrado que tiene el poder para permanecer.
Nacido como Irvin Salinas, el 8 de diciembre de 1988 en Washington, PeeWee es el menor de tres hermanos. La separación de sus padres lo llevo hacia La Joya, una pequeña ciudad localizada en las afueras de McAllen, Texas, muy cerca de la frontera mexicana. Tanto su madre como sus abuelos maternos son originarios de Monterrey, lo cual le ofreció la oportunidad de crecer en ambos mundos y conocer a fondo las costumbres latinas y el dominio de ambos idiomas.
Desde muy pequeño, su inclinación por la música fue notable. El cantar era algo que hacía con sus amigos y en la escuela. Obviamente su amor por el canto fue recompensado al ganar una audición, con apenas trece años, la cual lo convirtió en el miembro mas joven de la agrupación Kumbia Kings. Con apenas veinte años de edad se convirtió en un veterano con experiencia de primer vocalista en dos grupos exitosos – Kumbia Kings y Kumbia All Starz.
PeeWee fue un elemento creativo determinante en ambos conjuntos. Para Kumbia Kings convirtió en éxitos canciones como “Sabes A Chocolate” y “Na, Na, Na Dulce Niña”, las cuales llegaron a los primeros 10 lugares del Billboard y mas de un millón de copias mundialmente. “Sabes a Chocolate” rompió records demostrando que PeeWee era un auténtico fenómeno artístico. Fue el álbum de mayores ventas en México y US en el 2005, y fue nominado a varios premios en el 2006. El primer sencillo de PeeWee pavimentó el camino para el siguiente, un disco que haría a la gente reconocerlo como PeeWee – y ya no como “El vocalista de Kumbia Kings”.
Para Kumbia All Starz, “Chiquilla” y “Speedy González” se convirtieron en himnos de la juventud. Su colaboración con Luny Tunes en el éxito “Carita Bonita” dejo marcado su recorrido como vocalista. Ambas canciones llegaron a lo más alto de las listas de popularidad en las radiodifusoras latinas en los Estados Unidos, México y América Latina.
A pesar de su corta edad y el éxito de ambos grupos, era inevitable que el carisma y energía de PeeWee lo impulsaran a una carrera como solista.
Al comienzo del 2008, su salida escandalosa y repentina del grupo se convirtió en una bendición. Durante dos meses los medios de comunicación perdieron su pista, y mientras se preguntaban junto a su extensa fanaticada, que había pasado con el “Dulce Niño” fue Don Francisco Presenta quien develo la historia exclusiva, obteniendo los ratings mas altos tanto en el mercado general como en el mercado hispano.
Su gran talento y esfuerzo le abrieron las puertas como presentador de MTVtr3s en la serie de verano 2008 “Bust A Ritmo”, demostrando que era mas que un cantante. Su primera presentación como solista, en Premios Juventud 2008 culmino las expectativas del publico y lo convirtió en el Artista que alcanzo mas ratings durante el Show.
Pero lo que dejo a todos pasmados, fue su participación y crecimiento en el reality Show 1 de México, El Show de Los Sueños. Al igual que American Idol, este programa atrae enormes audiencias en México, Estados Unidos y América Latina. PeeWee sorprendió al auditorio a todo lo largo de México, compitiendo durante 11 semanas con Artistas de la talla de Gloria Trevi, Kalimba, Flex entre otros.
PeeWee compartio el escenario con José José, Manzanero, Emanuel, Christopher Uckerman, Dulce Maria y Diego Verdaguer aumentando sus seguidores en México y los EEUU. Terminó consiguiendo el primer lugar en ambas competencias de la temporada 2008 del programa! PeeWee se corono con sus soñadoras en popularidad y alcanzaron el gran premio de UN MILLON DE DOLARES!!

Getting to know PeeWee
PeeWee is a handsome young man with his feet firmly planted on the ground, who sings with passion and free expression. PeeWee established himself as a rising star in the world of entertainment by the tender age of 13 and has maintained staying power through his talent and charisma.
Born as Irvin Salinas, on December 8, 1988, in Othello, Washington, PeeWee was the youngest of three brothers. After his parents separated, PeeWee moved to the small city of La Joya located in the outskirts of McAllen, Texas. His mother, as well as his maternal grandparents, are originally from Monterrey, Mexico. Being both American and Mexican has offered him a great opportunity to experience both worlds.
From an early age, his inclination for music was notable. Singing was something that he did with his friends and in school. His love for music and singing was obvious and at age 13, he auditioned and won the spot as the new vocalist and youngest member of the popular group, Los Kumbia Kings which was later re-named Kumbia All Starz.
As the vocalist for the Kumbia Kings, PeeWee turned “Sabes A Chocolate” and “Na, Na, Na Dulce Niña” into top charting songs which become huge hits around the world. He gained immense popularity with the public, especially with the fans, which increased notably thanks to him.
For Kumbia All Starz, PeeWee turned “Chiquilla” and “Speedy González” into the “It” songs of his generation. He also collaborated with Luny Tunes for “Carita Bonita”, which also topped the charts in the United States, Mexico and Latin America.
At the beginning of 2008, PeeWee exited the group and disappeared from the media eye for a while. He later appeared in the popular U.S. national variety show “Don Francisco Presenta” to reveal his story and reasons he left the group. That episode achieved highest ratings of the year.
His great talent landed him the spot as the presenter of MTVtr3’s 2008 hit summer show “Bust A Ritmo”, where he displayed that he is much more than a highly talented singer.
In addition, that summer, PeeWee made his debut as a solo musical artist during the network television broadcast of Premios Juventud 2008, where he performed his hit single “Life is a Dance Floor”. The audience response reached a fevered pitch, and the single went on to become a summer anthem, achieving multi-format, radio chart success throughout the United States.
In late 2008, PeeWee participated in the popular reality television program "Show de los Sueños: Sangre de Mi Sangre" and quickly won over the hearts of millions of viewers throughout the United States, Mexico and Latin America. PeeWee won the program’s talent contest, and given his popularity amongst viewers, was invited to participate in the show’s second season. During the second season, PeeWee competed against several major artists including Gloria Trevi, Kalimba and Edith Marquez and, following his performance during the season finale, he once again notched first place honors.
PeeWee’s various achievements despite his youthful age, together with the August release of his highly anticipated solo album, are sure to propel him into the stratosphere of Latin music.
