This is the Official MySpace site for the 2009 Pembroke Festival.
Welcome to the seventh Pembroke Festival, organised for the community by the community. The aims of the Festival are to showcase local talent and for Pembroke to get together and celebrate! Forget the recession – here is a full and varied programme to suit most tastes and to entice you to come out and enjoy yourselves!
The theme this year is Wheels. So dress-up, decorate your wheels and roll along and join in the Whacky Wheels Procession on Thursday 2nd July either on a bike, roller skates, skateboard or in a wheelchair; pushing a pram, pushchair or shopping basket; driving a go-kart or scooter.
There will be some great bands playing in the marquee on the South Quay every day, exhibitions, competitions and activities for all ages. The South Quay Pembroke is in the centre of the town adjacent to Pembroke Castle.
This year there are two exciting ticketed events on the Friday and Sunday evenings which will include Planet Abba and Pembrokeshire’s most popular band Johnny Action Finger.
On Thursday there will be an opportunity to see Pembrokeshire’s rising young musical talent at a free gig in the marquee from 8pm, including Kill the Batman, The Viper Blades and Every Dirty Street.
On Friday from 8pm the Marquee will resonate with 70’s Nostalgia with a disco and the internationally proclaimed ABBA Tribute Band - Planet Abba. So get your glad rags on for this fab and groovy night. Cost £8 in advance and £10 on the door.
Rock your socks off on Saturday Night from 8pm with local and talented Rock Bands, Regime, Persona B, SPAM and Last to Fall! There will also be Fireworks from the Castle Ramparts at 11pm.
On Sunday chill to our Lazy Sunday Afternoon free slot from 1pm – 5pm with laid back music from Hindsight, Lowri Evans, The Crook Family and The Rain Kings.
You can then dance the night away from 8pm to sounds that will certainly make you move! There is Reggae, Cuban Dance and Ska from Molara, Raul Speek and, headlining the evening, Johnny Action Finger! You won’t be able to resist those rhythms!! Evening event £6 in advance, £7 on the door.
So please put the first weekend in July in your diaries and let’s celebrate!
