Seth's Interests
General
Indulging in lazy pastimes: reading; writing books and poetry; playing piano; art - drawing and painting; and generally loving anything that allows me to sit around (TV and movies are always good). Yes, I like to learn, but I'm more often found cavorting gracelessly with friends and family.
Currently: on a gap year, doing work experience and trying to learn Spanish (pero no entiendo, or something).
Music
Favourites include: Seth Lakeman; Delta; Darren Hayes; Dido; Missy Higgins; Kate Bush; Tori Amos; Sarah McLachlan; Justin Timberlake; Nelly Furtado; No Doubt; Robbie Williams; Rufus Wainwright; Stacie Orrico; Tanya Donelly; Will Young; Weezer; plenty of soundtracks (Rachel Portman is fit as), etc.
I wish I was a muso, but so many of my friends are better qualified than me, and to adopt the label would be pretentious!
Classical: well, it's got to be Chopin or Debussy (I love piano music); some Bach; Beethoven; and Einaudi is cheesy but great. Am currently obsessed with Prokoviev's Romeo and Juliet score.
Movies
To name a few: Atonement; Moulin Rouge; American Beauty; Requiem; The Sixth Sense; Brokeback Mountain; The Plague Dogs; Rosemary's Baby; Enduring Love; Watership Down (see the cute bunnies... being EATEN. :|); Mean Girls... and on and on...
Television
Buffy, Friends, How I Met Your Mother, The Simpsons, Scrubs and many, many more. I'm a bit of an addict, really. Anything with good writing and good acting. And a dab of artiness.
The Judd School
Tonbridge, United Kingdom
Graduated: 2007
Student status: Alumni
Degree: High School Diploma
Major: English, History, Art
Clubs: Too many.
I play the piano to Grade 8 standard (A.B.R.S.M); that's the top grade. I play pretty much anything, and I also compose and produce music of many genres! Ah, the joys of music, the universal language...

I am Seth. Hear me roar. I am too big to ignore. (Short, you say? Pfff. Short-smorrrt.) It's funny how just a few short months off the conveyor belt of education can totally reshuffle your priorities. I have just finished a fantastic internship with Pink Paper and Orion Books, and am now working at Angley School and looking forward to travelling.
I want to learn Spanish, but haven't quite settled on a travel destination. (And yes, I am aware that Spain is an appropriate choice!)
Next October I start at Oxford University (St Hugh's) where I am going to study English Language and Literature. Books-books-books! Hurrah!

Hey dude, how are things out there in England? I'm going to try and fly out there this summer and meet up with the family and grandma, but its going to be tight. I'll be taking summer session in order to get some classes in I need. Oh well. Hope all is well out there!
Hey!
Before I posted this comment I just sat and listened to Missy for a whole on your Space... I spied on your slideshow that you have an album? Wow. Do you sing or play piano? I'm a singer, and in a few weeks I'm going into a recording studio to record some stuff. I'm really excited but worried I'll muck it up!
Often when I'm on Deviantart I have a look at your page to see your drawings. They're incredible.
Australia is a nice place to live but I guess I don't really 'see' it since I live here. I'd love to see from a fresh, outsiders' perspective. If you ever do make it over here, let me know that you think ;)
It's funny.... I'm headed to the UK at the end of this year. I'm spending a month tripping around Scotland, Ireland, Isle of Man, England, and finally France. Imagine if we bumped into eachother and you drew me?! :P That would be awesome.

I saw her live in concert Dec '05. She was amazing. One of my singing idols thats for sure. You have good taste! (That is, reading over your space we like a lot o the same things, which means you have good taste)

Hey dude sorry to hear about oxford. Its unfortunate the way things work here. So did you get into the other universities? As for me, don't if i'm going into dental anymore. The people who work in the math and biology department, who are suppose to help the students, were total arses. So i may go practice law instead. But i am going to take some classes that are geared towards dentistry, Weatherwise its freeeeeeezziiiiinnnggg. My room is a steady 32 degrees at night (don't know what that is in celsius). Christmas was alright. Bad news though. Sam's condition got worse and we had to put him to sleep second week of december. So we were all kind of depressed. Mom and dad were in the Antarctic for christmas for 2 weeks, but we celebrated after. They had an amazing time. Keep in touch dude. I'll keep you informed whats up at this end.
Yes, I am indeed back at uni - oh joy! As for Sibelius, don't worry you can still send it to me at home. I am heading back in a week or two as it is and it's a bit more secure than the postage here. Don't worry about it at all, I'm not really in a position to use it much at the moment anyway and and I am officially the most delayed person when it comes to things like this. Besides, I think you might just be busier than me at the moment, so there's really no hurry. :)
Wow, you're going to be a full on published illustrator - that is so awesome! I'm really pleased that your talent is being acknowledged and please do let me know when it's out and about in shops, I'll be sure to get it! And Grade 7 piano too, wow - good luck! Same goes for the driving - is there anything you aren't doing at the moment?! In fact is there anything you can't do?! :P
Yes school's scary. I remember I felt quite pressurised when the end of Year 13 was nigh but I learnt that there just isn't any point in getting bogged down with it all, ultimately you will do how you will do and methinks you work really hard.
That's really great you are reapplying to Oxford, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought you had such an unfair experience. I don't know the English tutors at St Hugh's but I know it has a good reputation as a department and they seem good eggs. And St Hugh's is certainly one of the best colleges when it comes to fairness of places - there are a lot of people here from state schools compared with other places. Anyway, it's so great you haven't been discouraged and definitely give it another go! Hugh's is an awesome college (albeit a little far away!) and you mustn't be so damn negative about it all. I've said before that you are far more deserving than me and a good many others I can think of (yes the selection process is so random, I still can't make sense of it) so have the faith.
Right, I am off to eat Digestive biscuits whilst pretending to write a thesis!
Take care and I hope you're well. Good luck with everything!
xxx

No worries about the add, sorry it has officially taken me this long to get back to you!
I just sent you an email actually, though I fear my address may be junked. Therefore I am letting you know so you can prevent me from plunging into junk oblivion - you have the power!
I hope all is going well with school and the impending interview. Good luck to your friend as well! I guess I'lll cope with having you around!! Though I won't be here by October because I'll have graduated - ahhhhhh! Still you could be part of my excuse to pop back! :P
Things are pretty good for me thank you and I hope the same can be said for you.
I'd actually really love Sibelius if that is still ok? (I forgot to mention it in the email!) No need to feel terrible - I don't think I'd have had much time to get to grips with using it as it is!
Hey i'm good thanks.just been working a lot. going to work dressed as the beast from x-men 2moro,covered in blue body paint lol (don't laugh. will show you some pictures soon :)
Whats the trial for? good luck with it,don't be nervous you'll be brilliant. apart from that what have you been up to xxx
Hiya! No boom in the pregnancy rate im afraid!
Was brilliant seeing you all, glad you had a good time! And thanks for forcing me to watch 'Hitcher' was pretty awful now thinking about it, but was actually quite scary! ("Oooo...ooooo".
Went to a fireworks party last night, was brilliant...bloody love fireworks!!! Did you do anything spesh?
We havent started the Wastelands yet but have read some of it. Have properly dissected Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock, Portrait of a Lady and Preludes. I'm really enjoying them. Prufrock not so much but I loved Portrait of a lady. What did you think?
XxX
Hey man, everyones doing pretty well out here. I'm busy. I messed up on a couple term papers and now have to paddle upstream in order to achieve the grade I want. Oh well, thats what i get for slacking off the first couple of weeks. Can't complain though. My cousins on mom's side are in town, twins and both only 8 months. I hope to get a few pictures up and posted soon. Anyway dude, i'll catch up with you when the craziness dies down a bit. Take it easy and g/l with school
