Penny Broadhurst & The Maffickers believe in hooks, harmonies, passion and pop. Mafficking means to celebrate riotously. Are you a Mafficker?
Penny and the band have played Wireless, Indietracks, Latitude, Truck, Moor Music, Solfest, Ladyfest and Glastonbury festivals and been played on BBC Radio 1, Xfm, BBC 6 Music, Dandelion Radio, Radio Magnetic etc as well as local and internet radio stations. They have supported the likes of Patrick Wolf, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Sky Larkin, Wintermute, Melt Banana... Penny was shortlisted by the BBC World Service for their Next Big Thing and the Guardian wrote an introducing sort of piece about her, which got some things wrong but was still very nice. There's been a bit of blog excitement about the band too, which is always fun, especially when they come up with even more Penny puns.
Penny Broadhurst & The Maffickers are available for records, gigs and picnics. Hurray!

"A good strong dose of Northern attitude or humour. I'm sure if you put Penny Broadhurst into the internet you'll find out plenty about her...if you dare!" Patrick Wolf
This month on Dandelion Radio I play a new track from the mighty PENNY BROADHURST AND THE MAFFICKERS on my monthly queer-feminist-punk-pop-electro radio show. It's a mighty two hour slice of music by shouty women, political queers, underground delights you will never have heard, and under-rated past genius from the likes of Helen Love, Kirsty MacColl, Bikini Kill, Shampoo and many more. I defy you not to be inspired!
You can listen to the show daily throughout the month of November at a different time. Visit www.dandelionradio.com for the full schedule for the month and vote for your 3 favourite tracks of the year for this years FESTIVE 50 which we proudly host in the sad absence of John Peel.
