Penny Foster, a singer and songwriter, studied at the Brits School (Amy Winehouse and Kate Nash) in London at the age of 16. Penny went on to the Academy of Contemporary Music, where she studied alongside Newton Faulkner and met folk singer Kirsty McCall who became a musical inspiration to her.
Since graduating, Penny has received enviable success as a singer-songwriter. She was a featured artist for HedKandi and has been sampled on dance tracks. Penny has performed at the Royal Albert Hall and worked as a session singer and song writer, providing backing vocals for Shania Twain. She has also worked with Dele Ladimeji and Alex James and songwriters such as Gordon Mills, Emma Rohan, Bens Brother front man Jamie Hartman and the Ivor award-winning Ian Dench.
After travelling Europe and gaining valuable experience in the music business, Penny moved to Camden. She started writing with Swedish guitarist Rob Choler, whose pop/punk style influenced Penny’s folk vibe and created a sound which helped her rediscover the musical influences of her past. Penny also credits her song writing influence to the music she grew up with and inspiration from other’s lives, both celebrity and people she knows, especially her family who she is very close to.
Penny is recording her debut album this year. With extensive experience, contacts and knowledge behind her, the forthcoming year is sure to be an exciting one for Penny.
