   Pens On Fire's Blurbs
About me:

Pens on Fire is a small online literary magazine that publishes general short fiction, poetry, art and music, and writing articles, on a monthly basis (i.e. the August issue, the September issue, the October issue). The headquarters at Pens on Fire can be found at www.pensonfire.com. We have several other outlying sites that help us function and grow. We feature the current month’s literature and art, the archives of past months, submission guidelines, our blog, and more information on the staff and the contributors on this main site.

POF is always looking for new work from new writers with something interesting to say. We are a traditional submission oriented publication, though everything is 100% electronic. We receive submissions from writers or artists and we decide which ones are best for us based on the merits of the work (style, readability, progression, etc.). If you are interested in submitting work to us, we hope you’ll take a look at our guidelines at www.pensonfire.com/submission.html.

For our short fiction, we publish anything and everything we think will please our readers, whether it is horror, mystery, suspense, romance, literary, fantasy, or science fiction. We don’t judge on the topic of the work (this is true for our poetry, also) unless we find the topic to be “out there.” Violence for the sake of violence, sex for the sake of sex, political bantering for the sake of well…It’s one thing to have a violent scene in a short story, or a sex scene, or a social/political/spiritual message as a meaning, but when these things become the story, we feel that we can find a better story.

Pens on Fire has also spread to other web locations. We are like sand in your bathing suite after a day at the beach; we're in places you may have never thought to look. We have a Myspace page (oh yeah!?), and also a Myspace group to go along with our Yahoo! group. The staff is tampering with a few other things as well. We’re working on becoming a paying market, slowly but surely, and we are working on creating our own online bookstore where we will be able to help promote and sell the works of our author friends.

But one thing remains: our passion to building a network for writers of all skill levels, giving them a platform to display their work. We can’t publish every writer who submits work to us, but with our two writing groups, we can certainly help every writer grow in his craft.

Who I'd like to meet:
We'd love to meet writers, poets, songwriters, playwrights, etc. Anyone that has talent to share with the world. We are editors and publishers. We can publish on our site. We can edit and help prepare for submission. Most importantly we just want to meet you all.

Note. The form below does not work at this time. We are working on adding it to the page. We will let everyone know when it is working. Thank you!

"Confection"
(11.09.06)

Locked and loaded and cocked,
He has identified his target,
Standing before him this oasis of caramel chocolate morsels,
Shall he bite her candy,
Kiss her hands, her lips, her hips,
Those panties are now edible,
Her physique has all ways remained incredible,
Taking aim at her curvaceously chiseled feminine delight,
The anticipation of her patient explosions throughout the night,
These unbearable vibrations coming from her center,
He enters into her,

It is now Their experience,
Their natural prowess,
Their sexual powers,
Their flow,
Him and Her,
Purrs and hisses and wet kisses,
Fantasies and pleasurable wishes,
What is this,
Bliss of the abyss.

My book has already received some great reviews before its official release on June 9th. It is a mystery/suspense thriller -- and is only the first in a trilogy I am contracted to write.

Click here to access my blog where I will post information about the book's availability as well as signing events.  Also, be sure to check out my novel's website (www.childfinder.us) for more detailed information about the story, my background, and publication schedules.

Truth & Lies

They Lied To Me When They Said
“Time Will Heal Every Wound!”
Tht Another Lovers’ Touch
Could Ever Replace The Passion Tht Your Lips Consumed.
Tht Your Kiss… No Matter Hw Sweet…
No Matter Hw Perfect Our Embrace...
Would One Day Be Swallowed Up By The Masses
Until I No Longer Recognize Your Face.
They Said “Many Day Will Become Nights
& Many Nights Will Become Weeks…”
Tht For A Season It Will Feel Like Torture
Between The Moments Tht We Speak!
But After Weeks Become Months
& Months Become Years,
One Morning Tht 1st Impulse To Call Out Your Name
Would Simply Disappear!
One Evening Tht FAITHFUL Moon
That, Once, Guided My Heart To Yours,
Would, Instead, Lead My Midnight Flight
To The Edge Of Obsidian Shores.
They Said “Look Around You? What Do You See…
Beyond The Summer Bloom Of The Mimosa?
Those Same People Who SPAT On Christ
As HE Stumbled Down The True Via Dolorosa!?”
The Same People Who Claimed To Be Children Of Light
But Cast Shadows Over Your Moments Of Lose!?”
They Said “Not Every Man Is Meant To Embrace True Love -
So Brotha’ Lay Down Your Heavy Cross!”
...Tht My Sacrifice Would Be In Vain,
Because No Matter Hw Hard We Tried,
No One Will Ever Know Hw Much I Love You...
But THOSE Mutha*****’s Lied!
How Could I Rip Out This Crown Of Thorns,
Tht SO Deeply Pierces My Heart?
Knowing Tht Heaven & Earth Are Bound By The Promise
Of Our Souls NEVER Being TRULY Apart!?

Her earthshine grinding time to a halt,
His first vision of Her stands apart,
In sight and magnificence,
With love pronounced in subtle delight,
Since when did life become so splendid,
Indeed for Him,
Life has begun again,

Reminded of love,
So often lost,
Without the words to rekindle,
Relationships cost,
Thousands of moments,
Sold and bought,
Emotional onslaughts fraught with lessons,
We are taught,

Give unconditionally without expectations,
Communicate our commitments,
Oral and physical,
Spiritual and coital,

Unmasking then displaying our love,
Grateful for mutual patience,
A gift from above,
Under Her breasts,
A sweetheart beats,
And rests in peace,
Until our next retreat.

David Franks: Walkabouts Verse

Feb 16 2009 1:46 PM

(Hi - just enjoyed my visit.)

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...

Poem cum song 2 of 230, walkaboutsverse. 741. com: WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN

Once drove an old sedan, up north,
From a place in Sydney to Cairns;
Then to Kuranda I went forth,
By train, to look without set plans.

I browsed through the trendy market,
With fresh fruits of tropical kind;
Walked to the creek through lush thicket -
Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.

I dined in a scenic cafe;
Then, outside, as I wrote for yen,
Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey,
You go walkabout with your pen.”

Request or question, I don’t know -
Assured voices, elderly men.
That’s now several years ago,
And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
