For about 5 years now, Pensive aka Pens has been working on solo or feature tracks with artists based all around Germany. Before that, he did a lot of songs with his "partner in crime" Raaz, thus the crew name "Pens&Raaz". However, always looking for new ways to interprete his own music and never being able to sit still for a minute and leave things as they are, he now has been on his own again for about two years (not meaning that he won't do any songs with Razz anymore, though! A concept album of the two rappers is already in the making and will be released during the course of 2009).
After having released a joint album with Tizzle from Herten on 1 October 2007, Pens has been working diligently on his solo album "...dort liegt das Gold begraben" (2 discs/28 free download songs), which he released on 1 December 2007. It features artists from all over the globe, amongst them German top rappers such as Olli Banjo, Joe Rilla and Nico Suave (the latter within an extra download package, due to internal problems when it came to releasing it as part of the album - this free download package came out late February 2008) as well as California-based Rich Tycoon and many more. The only two producers who worked on this project with Pensive are Delacream from Essen (club bangers; jiggy side of the album) and Litz from Nuremberg (Soul and Funk beats; melodic side).
Even before that, on 1 November 2007, Pensive's former crew Blackzone Entertainment released their album. Download & be prepared for a diversified project with many different song styles and a listening experience you won't forget.

Influences
When Pens started to listen to music it was bands like Sick of it all, Bad Religion or Queen who he admired - and as for the latter two, still does! Today, the ska band Less Than Jake is one of Pens' absolute favourites! Speaking of Hiphop as such, he has been influenced by a lot of artists and crews, and tries to keep an open mind towards the different styles, whether it might be conscious, jiggy or whatever else there is... Amongst his favourite rap and rnb artists are Talib Kweli, Missy Elliott, Tweet, Timbaland, JayZ and DMX from the US, IAM from France, and Samy Deluxe, Sentino as well as his personal artist friends from Germany, who might be the ones influencing his music and himself most.
Sounds Like
Pens might wanna sound more like other rnb artists ;)! Not considering himself a singer, he still tries to sing, which leads the tunes in a direction not even he himself has ever thought of before they have come into existence. Just listen to his various projects, and you'll find even if it might take a little while to get used to it all, it is "his thing" and only that, unique and individually performed music with timeless lyrics...

M. "Pensive" aka "Pens" Gottwald started to make music in 1995.
In 2001, he met the maestro himself, LuBeatz, who today can be found behind the curtains of www.noxwell.de and www.lubeatz.de, so check out the two websites! Today, Pens seeks development of more and more skills by working with interesting artists from all around the globe, in particular soul and rnb singers, but of course rappers and others from all kinds of genres of music as well. Up to this point, he has worked with a number of national as well as international artists and would now like to broaden his horizon even more... Let creativity never be stopped!!
Previous examples of his work can be listened to on pens.myownmusic.de and will be found within the various free download releases/albums. On top of all that, Pens is workin with cultural institutions, too, such as the DasTietz in his hometown Chemnitz. Straying from your usual rap contents, he for instance wrote a song about the 290 million year old petrified forrest of Chemnitz called "Schatzsuche", which can be listened to on and be downloaded from the DasTietz website www.naturkunde-chemnitz.de (click on animated song banner).
