PEOPLE GET REAL
PEOPLE GET REAL is the collective name for the DJ/production duo of Simon Lister and Peter Wilson. Since 2002 they have been consistently and thoroughly bringing their brand of dance-floor terrorism to parties in their native Newcastle and across the UK. Never allowing themselves to be pinned down to a particular sound or pigeon-holed is seen as the lads’ greatest strength and their philosophy is that a club night or mix shouldn't be at the same level or tempo all the way through, instead it should be a mixture of all things good and proper this gives the lads the uncanny ability to bring their mixture of house, techno and disco to any floor and make it rock.
Their perfectly pitched style has led them to DJ alongside some of the world's biggest and best; Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Loco Dice, Ame, Craig Richards, Ivan Smagghe and Andrew Weatherall to name just a few. Their perfectly pitched style has led them to DJ alongside some of the world's biggest hitters; Erol Alkan, Boys Noize, Tiga, Claude VonStroke, 2 Many DJs, Justin Martin to name just a few. As a result and with their profile rising further, the likes of Soulwax, Hot Chip, Simian Mobile Disco, Booka Shade and Mathew Dear have all requested and enlisted their support for their recent club tours and after parties. Whether its playing club bangers before Erol Alkan or late night groovers alongside Ryan Elliott, the ethos behind PEOPLE GET REAL is to adapt to their surrounding but to always add that little bit of PEOPLE GET REAL magic to it.
Regularly featured and profiled in Mixmag and The Guardian, PEOPLE GET REAL are now also enjoying increasing success with repeat bookings at their yearly sold out New Years Eve show-cases in Leeds and Newcastle with Radio One’s Essential Mix and Metropolis, Chibuku’s secret Forest Party, Sankeys and Naive Melody in Manchester, Sheffield’s Urban Gorilla as well as both Coco de Mer and Pigeonhole Disco in Liverpool. Never ones to rest on their laurels People Get Real have also been busing themselves in the studio at every available opportunity. Recent productions have been played by the likes of Magda, Matthew Dear, Tobi Neumann, Ryan Elliott, Tiga, Jamie Jones, Matt Tolfrey and Death on the Balcony..

Jay Collins and Mark Wagstaff AKA The Funk Junkies are Djs, producers and promoters from the north of England. Their club event 'charged' is one of the UK's fastest growing house brands throwing regular sell out parties across England, Malta and Ibiza. Last year saw the guys move up a gear and begin producing. In little under 12 months their productions have gained support from the likes of Steve Angello, Deepgroove, Sonny Wharton and more. The Funk Junkies first release on Elektriqa is a double A side. First up is Fragile, a peak time record with a simple yet hypnotic riff that definitely crosses musical boundaries. Gush, on the other hand is a dubby, twisted progressive house bomb graced with a tight and catchy lead. Keep an eye out for more Funk Junkies productions forthcoming on Elektriqa.
This Friday (22nd), we welcome a true heavyweight of the house and techno scene to Ward10, Andrew Weatherall. Having not played in the area for a good couple of years this gives anyone with even a hint of interest in house and techno a chance to check out a pioneer who is, with residencies at Fabric (London) and Back to Basics (Leeds) to testify, a world class DJ.
With Those That Know supplying the soul, funk, deep house and hip hop in Room 2, we think it's the perfect way to get the Bank Holiday weekend session started.
And remember, just £8 on the door before midnight.
A shout to all of Live-in Music’s band friends who produce electro/techno/indie/nu-disco and are looking for a label.
UK Imprint Live-in Music is looking for new artists. If you think this is you and you’ve unsigned material that you are looking to get out, just drop us a message and we’ll come and check you out.
Look forward to hearing from you.
