People You Know began on the streets of Toronto in early 2008. It all started with one open-mic night and two eager jitterbugs. Aimee and Iman picked each other out of the crowd of drunken musicians and two weeks later, they were jamming on Bloor Street West. Devon Clarke – Aimee and Iman’s secret love child – was birthed between the pulse of the street car tracks. She picked up the bass and joined the band simultaneously, adding some soul and fine-tuning our sound – making us a complete happy family.
The threesome have grown at an alarming rate – performing with The Joys, The Torrents, Les Switch and Zara Achmed as well as playing Toronto PRIDE 2008 and a KickBax battle (awarded first place) within the first couple of months. These girls are leaving their mark on the Toronto music scene. From the way this band came together, to the friends who have supported them all along, this band proves that you can never underestimate the importance that in life as well as music, its all about People You Know.
