About me:
I studied Cinema at San Francisco State University. I've been lucky to make a few films and pick up a couple of awards. I've worked with scores of youth from Oakland to San Francisco and produced hundreds of short films. In addition to editing, collaborating and making my own films, I curate films for festivals/galleries.
Recently, I started a documentary in Jamaica. Originally, the trip had started out as a short vacation; however, it ended up being extended a little over a month. I am currently editing it with one of my students from the San Quentin Prison.
I just finished facilitating an intensive seven week film course with 9 incarcerated men at San Quentin State Prison. Aside from learning the foundation of filmmaking and completing various exercises, each filmmaker, for their final project, made an amazing six minute short film.
To Release isn't to forget, not to think about, or ignore. It doesn't leave feelings of anger, jealousy, or regret. It's not about pride and it's not obsessing or dwelling on the past. It's not about giving in or giving up. To let go is to cherish the memories, but to overcome and move on. Letting go is learning and experiencing and growing. To release is to be thankful for the experiences that made you laugh, made you cry, and made you grow. It's about all that you have, all that you had, and all that you will soon gain. Letting go is releasing and having the courage to accept change, and the strength to keep moving. It is realizing that the heart can sometimes be the most potent remedy. To let go is to open a door, and to clear a path and set yourself free---
