About me: CHECK OUT OUR WEBSITE! www.p4p.org.nz
We are a registered charitable trust that supports children living in severely poverty stricken villages in rural Fiji. We have been dubbed "A Homegrown version of 'Make Poverty History' " by the New Zealand Herald. On New Years Day, 2007, we arrived in Fiji with an enormous 4 ton of donated items including school resources, books, toys, shoes, clothes and medical supplies - which were all raised by NZ performing artists donating their time to perform in Auckland schools.
In our inaugural drive, an entire 4 ton of gifts was raised by just 13 shows, with each artist donating one hour of performance time! Children attending shows were asked to donate one item to the project, but many arrived with bags and boxes of gifts!
We now have all types of performing artists in various venues and also several projects running in schools. These include artists donating shows in return for second hand items ... a "Gift Box" project, where classes gather items in a box to deliver to an individual child ... A "Happy and Healthy" project which encourages people to donate health and first aid items and the "Save a School" project, which collects old resources, books, furniture and office equipment from schools in NZ and delivers them to severely under resourced schools in the Pacific Islands.
Check out the articles about us on the nz Herald website! (search term "performers 4 poverty")
We could not possibly help so many children without help of the of all our performing artists volunteering their time and the very generous planning assistance and financial support of Tim Manning http://www.timothy-terence-manning.com/
We would greatly appreciate it if you could tell all the performing artists, businesses and kind hearted people that you know about our cause and encourage them to email us to find out how they can become involved.
Thank you!
