   About Pericardium
What people have to say about Salutary:

"In Salutary, which the band dubs as a "minialbum," Pericardium takes on the task of genre bending, breaking out of the limited molds dictated by the music industry by creating a collection of eight distinct yet cohesive tracks that morph seamlessly from psychedelia to metal to straight-ahead rock. In parts of the album, comparisons can be drawn to 311, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pink Floyd, all with a jam band feel, but no one sound pervades Salutary's entirety."

-Claire Young, Metro Magazine

"Musically situated somewhere between classics such as Yes and the moderns such as Frost* and Nemo, Pericardium convincingly delivers a showpiece album that proudly stands as their strongest work to date. While they don’t throw away the notion that prog music has to be grounded in something derived from the best of the 1970s, their ability to convincingly incorporate heavier elements of the prog continuum into established traditions, makes Salutary an enjoyable release. "

-Alex Jasperse, Muse's Music Reviews

"Salutary takes the listener up and down lofty-psychedelic-interludes juxtaposed with conterminous heavy-metal tangents. As part of the band's mission statement, songs deal with political and social issues...Content aside, "Salutary" is a very well put together album."

-Patrick Gartner, La Voz Weekly

"Pericardium's album Salutary, with its lush sound and floating synths gave me an irie feeling of nostalgia, of being a freshmen driving to "High" School with my Senior sister in her '89 Toyota listening to her mix tape of the Cranberries...Have you ever woken up in an opium den with naked chics covered in grapes? No? Neither have I! Somehow Pericardium especially when they go on tangents, like they do on this track [Ecliptic Corridor] has convinced me. They have!"

-Jimmy James, BAScene.com

"Yes, it is progressive but what I like about it is that it isn’t your “typical” progressive sound. While the arrangements seem somewhat disjointed to me at times (not unlike those of GENESIS, YES or Peter Gabriel when they decide to go down their “artistic” paths), what I did enjoy was the rather eclectic array of musical styles and influences as elements of classic rock, jazz, folk, new age, and even power metal are all easily detected. Another thing I have to mention is that these guys really know their way around their instruments. Just listen to the guitar work byMike Black on “A Hymn For Doves To The Rhythm Of Hawks.” This is one of the heavier tunes on the CD and contains some really nice guitar riffs and solos while still maintaining that whole progressive ambience..."

-Dave Felix, Rockeyez.com

"Overall, this sophomore effort by Pericardium proves the band is stepping up their metal guitar riffs by stepping down the female vocals, violin and hip-hop via their debut album, APARTHEID OF THE MIND. The music showcases alternative rock with solos that hint at either metal riffs or post-psychedelic-progressive leads that are reminiscent of either Pink Floyd or Radiohead. The vocals are sung with a subtlety that goes well with the chemistry of the band and emotionally carry comparisons with Picture Atlantic and Day One Symphony."

-Modern Mark, KSCU 103.3 FM
