PERNETT
2009 is a year of new horizons for this prolific artist, native of Barranquilla, Colombia. Pernett has just released "El Mago", an album produced in Cali, where he actually resides. His progressive folklore is fully charged in this album that also includes important collaborations with top local talent, and is a union of Colombia's Caribbean and Pacific coasts' rhythms. The result is a more universal sound.
Pernett is currently at a new level in his music and this is evident in 'El Mago'. For the first time we get to see what a talented artist he truly is. Apart from composing, producing, mixing and singing , he also recorded the traditional instruments such as percussions, maracas, gaita an guache. All of this without leaving behind his twisted electronic beats, full of synthesizers and special effects.
Humberto Pernett grew up in the midst of Barranquilla's famous carnival atmosphere. Since early childhood he was captivated by music, and curiosity made him his own teacher. At age 9 he was making music with a tape recorder, a guitar and a Casiotonebank CTK 120. This musical experiences shaped Pernett’s own rhythms and styles: folklore produced with electronic instruments.
At age 18 he moved to Bogota to study music, and it is here his career really takes off!! While working on his first album he meets English producer Richard Blair, and is invited to make part of Sidestepper, Colombia¹s most international world music group. Pernett has widely toured with Sidestepper in USA,Mexico, Canada and Europe.
Pernett , the producer, has been busy making music for many years now. The first result of his broad musical experience was ‘Musica Pa Pick Up’ EP (Sony, 2004). Two big hits came out in this work: ‘Huele a Mariacachafa’ and ‘Caribbean Raver’. after an extensive european tour promoting his first EP, he then co-produces with Richard Blair “Cumbia Galactica” EP(2006),
In 2008 he released his first full album “Arbol”, a ground breaking album with collaborations from Visitante Calle 13, son Palenque, Sergio Arias from Malalma y Tostao from Chocquibtown.
These three releases are considered important exponents of new Colombian music. With 'El Mago' Pernett s as a natural leader of this modern urban folklore, breaking barriers and experimenting with new elements.

PERNETT
El 2009 es un año de nuevos horizontes para este músico nativo de Barranquilla, Colombia. Acaba de lanzar al mercado su cuarto trabajo discográfico titulado 'El Mago', grabado y producido en Cali, donde vive actualmente. El folclor progresivo de Pernett viene con toda en este álbum que cuenta con la colaboración de grandes maestros residentes en Cali, y une folclor de las costas Caribe y Pacifico! El resultado es una música universal.
Pernett entra en una nueva etapa musical y esto es evidente en El Mago. En este trabajo queda plasmado el artista multifacético que es. Aparte de la composición, producción, mezcla e interpretación, también nos mostró su lado mas folclórico tocando las percusiones, el guache, la gaita y las maracas. Esto sin dejar de lado su faceta electrónica, llena de sintetizadores y efectos!
Empezó a experimentar con la música desde los nueve años de edad, con una grabadora, una guitarra y una organeta, producía sus propias canciones en formato de casette, y hacía versiones de temas tradicionales a los cuales agregaba sintetizadores. Esta fuerza innovadora y creativa lo ha convertido en uno de los artistas mas importantes del folclor colombiano.
Su pasión por la percusión, aprendida del maestro Itsvan Dely y sus hijos Shangó y David, y su singular atracción por la música del carnaval de Barranquilla heredada de su padre y su familia, quienes durante años han sido los presidentes de un importante grupo de danza folclórica de ésta ciudad, lo nutrió con un singular sonido.
Luego Pernett parte hacia Bogotá, allí entra a estudiar composición musical en la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, donde con otros caribeños empiezan a interpretar folclor en las esquinas y en los parques de Bogotá. En el año 2002 Pernett empieza a elaborar su primer trabajo discográfico en Bogotá, durante éste proceso conoce a Richard Blair quien lo invita a ser parte de Sidestepper. Con Sidestepper ha girado extensamente en Estados Unidos, Mexico y Europa.
En el año 2004 Pernett lanza su primer trabajo discográfico, un EP llamado Musica Pa..Pick Up, un disco de cinco canciones que van desde un Bullerengue electrónico, hasta la champeta mas progresiva y futurista que se halla hecho en Colombia. El primer éxito de éste disco se llama ‘Huele a Mariacachafa’, y la canción mas conocida de éste trabajo es ‘Caribbean Raver'.
Luego en el año 2006 luego de una extensa gira Europea, Pernett lanza un segundo EP, Cumbia Galáctica.
Para el año 2008 Pernett termina su trabajo Arbol, su primer Larga Duracion (Album). El disco incluye colaboraciones de Visitante Calle 13, son Palenque, Sergio Arias de Malalma y Tostao de CQT entre otros.
Con "El Mago" ,Pernett se consolida como la fuerza vanguardista de la música Colombiana, rompiendo esquemas y experimentando con nuevos elementos!
