Perry remembers watching alot of TV after school when he was a little kid. He beat on pots and pans with wooden spoons...Grew up in East Watertown in the 1970's, used to play in the abandoned BF Goodrich site with his friends, often had milkmoney stolen and lunchbox dumped out, followed by the wedgie grip run into the bushes. As a young boy took violin lessons for several years from his next door neighbor at the time. He remembers practicing from some books with funny names like "Wolfahrt".
Later on as a teenager Perry dropped the Violin and started playing bass guitar through the influence of his older brother. John Paul Jones playing on "The Lemon Song" was a big influence. He heard his brother's Jaco Pastorius solo album and was blown away by the unbelievable finger funk jazz sound of this cat. Used to get into a lot of melees for the pure fun, excitement, and self expression of it all.
Played around Boston as a member of Digney Fignus's post Columbia Records band, Rick Franz Group, Foko, and The Derivatives. Recorded two CD's with Foko's group, available on CDbaby - - http://cdbaby.com/cd/foko2, http://cdbaby.com/cd/foko1 - -
Currently he can be found performing on guitar with the Marty Nestor Group, Smoke N Mirrors, and working on improving/expanding his guitar improvisational skills, writing and recording some tunes, and enjoying his family of six. Perry is always looking to jam/improvise, and is enjoying this life most of the time...why not?
