My mother would listen to Barry Manilow and the Beatles over and over. My Dad would listen to all kinds of music. "Midnight Special" by C.C.R. was one of his favorites. I can remember my grandfather listening to the old radio shows, Perry Como and some big band stuff. How is that for a diverse musical childhood? I love singer/songwriters of all types but as far as mainstream artists go I like Jonny Lang, and Buddy Guy and I also like The Fray, Blue October and David Gray.
I just really love music. I'm glad I can play or sing at all. When I'm not playing or writing music, I'm thinking about it. Most of my songs were written about times in my life that had an impact on me. I also write about other people. Sometimes I just write from sheer observation of a situation, the way something looks or "shines". Usually the songs just come to me like a radio station and I just try to dial them in. Sometimes when I'm sleeping or standing in a line someplace. I don't know if my music is good or bad and I'm not sure if it really matters. I like to think that when I write a song I am just re-directing emotion into sound. So I don't know if you can call that writing. I always laugh when I watch kids trace things with a crayon and tracing paper. They show it to you because they are so proud of what they "drew". My music is kind of like that. I just use a recorder instead of tracing paper. So in those terms, I'm not really a writer, I'm a tracer.
I'm very fortunate to have some great people that I get to play with. Dale Adams is a good friend and great human being and he just happens to be one of the best guitar players in the free world. If you have never seen him play you need to catch one of our acoustic shows.
Gerry Gillespie is another great person that I get to play with. A phenom on the bass gutiar. Gerry puts three O's in the word Smoooth! He is real pro and toured for years profesionally with some top names. If you get a chance to catch one of my acoustic gigs with the "Trio"...Gerry is my guy.
I also just wanted to say thanks for all the hundreds and thousands of plays, comments and emails that each one of you send. I smile and laugh a lot because of this page. You guys rock!
Peace and love to all of you!
Perry
Sounds Like
People say I have my own sound. When asked who I sound like I used to say.."I have no idea"...then a few months later I started saying..."Me, I sound like me". Now I just say.."hopefully I sound like someone you like!"

£leTriKa sounds completely different from any Metal band you have ever heard. The Brazilian rhythms and the Portuguese language added to the songs makes its style unique, giving birth to a new kind of Metal. If you are really looking for something new about Metal, you should check £leTriKa out!
