My influences would have to be Eminem, Hilltops, Funkoars, from a musical point of view but the biggest influences in my life would be my friends and family. They know what I'm about and where I wanna go, and can help mould me to get there!!

A little bit of this and a little bit of that - have a listen!!
For childhood friends, vocalist/songwriter Courtney Nelli (Emcee Red) and
producer and DJ, Ben Thomson (DJ Impulse), it's always been about a passion and
love for music. The duo met at primary school in Perth, Western Australia and found
a mutual interest in the creation of songwriting and music - frequently remixing songs
with their own lyrics and experimenting with various musical instruments and software.
It was during the school years that they found a particular affinity towards hip-hop,
inspired through the works of artists such as Hilltop Hoods, Eminem and a heap more artists.
Although creating a few songs here and there in a bit of experimentation, it was not
until 2008 that the duo took their hobby more seriously. Their first release, "Fight Night"
was well received through audiences in Perth as well as the Australian hip-hop
community. Through the encouragement of well-known identities in the Australian hip-hop
community, the duo got straight to work in creating material towards their first release,
the EP "State to State", featuring artists such as Porsah-Laine, a respected singer/songwriter within the hip-hop community and Daniel Ray.
As well as performing for various parties and small gigs, their big break came in June
2009 when they became the opening act for Motley, a well-known UK hip-hop artist, on
the WA leg of his "Burches Know" tour. The group performed to a hip-hop hungry crowd in
Perth and blew the roof off with their unique sound - a fusion of epic orchestral strings,
brass and percussion, strong basslines and solid drum beats with a healthy dose
of Emcee Red's powerful rapping.
The duo continues to perform at various gigs and functions throughout WA and will be dropping
their EP, "State to State", in November 2009 with events planned Australia-wide shortly
afterwards. It will be a big 2009 and 2010 for Emcee Red, so keep an ear out.
