Local and regional music has been, by far, our greatest influence. We were fortunate to stumble on the historical West Bank music scene, brought up listening to A Prairie Home Companion, and are still learning from good friends in a strong community that is supportive and cooperative.
See our individual profiles for specific influences. Also check out other Minnesota acts. There is a wealth of great folk, blues, roots, and a local legacy we are honored to be a part of.

Pert' Near Sandstone came out of the great Minneapolis folk scene. Gathered round a single microphone, these boys play well crafted original stringband music, as well as being stewards of the old-time tradition. Their high-energy and gritty brand of stringband music is sure to get you outta your seat and keep you dancing...
With the release of their latest album, "Needle and Thread" Pert Near Sandstone is hitting it hard, continuing to take their music out on the rivers and roads of the country as a part of the revitalization of the American stringband tradition.
