About me:
The website of Peter Gardner: spiralsix.com
I'm smart, I think I'm pretty funny. I have a sarcastic streak a mile wide but I rarely say anything that's meant to be unkind, I spent a short time as a teacher (k-12, special ed), then as a student again (spent a year sturdying Industrial Design), now i'm back to programming, I make things, I get crushes, I'm into computers, I eat meat, I don't always mind drinking cheap beer (but I try not to enjoy it), I like new drink recipes and experimental cooking, I have gone to Burning Man and will go again someday, I want to travel more, I read, I care deeply about my friends, I spin fire, I have a good relationship with my parents, I hold grudges (but don't sweat the little things), I sing along with songs I like, I try to always show the people I love how much I care, I sleep late sometimes, I don't think I dance very well, I want to learn more Japanese, I write sometimes (mostly fiction), I am generous, I earnestly believe that there is a quote from the Simpsons to fit any situation, I am an Eagle Scout (but you can't tell by looking), I enjoy learning new things about history, I love stories with a punch line, one of my favorite words is misanthrope another is slippery, I have a tendency to babble when I'm tired or nervous, I know how many angels can sit on the point of a pin, I love camping, I make sweeping statements and grand gestures, I love romance and pursue it with my whole heart, I laugh inappropriately during action movies, I think of the song Somebody by Depeche Mode with great fondness, I love to argue but don't mind changing my stance when I realize I'm wrong, I question things that don't make sense, I accept (and expect) explanations that do, I don't lie about anything that's important, I have a great recipe for barbecued ribs, and finally I'm not perfect but I'm not half bad either.

Who I'd like to meet:
My favorite quote (for now)
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, nor our darkness that most frightens us.
.
We ask ourselves,
"Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?"
Actually, who are you not to be?
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people will not feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory that is within us.
It is not in just some of us - it is in everyone.
As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give people
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence
automatically liberates others."
- Marianne Williamson from A Return to Love
(Amusingly enough, there is an internet myth that this quote was from Nelson Mandela's inaugural speech in 1994. Upon further research, I can find no evidence that he said this.... And yes, it probably is telling that I would use up this much space for an explantion like this.)
