Yargh...Gather round children and I will tell you the tale of Pete & The Pelicans...
'Twas a balmy Autumn night at the 2006 National Folk Festival where a group of young performers all converged upon a small stage for a youth showcase where they would see each other perform. Upon meeting, Pelican Pete and Peg-leg Johnny struck a chord or three and decided they should start a band.
Not long into their voyage, they came across a savvy drummer by the name of The Peddler and recruited him to their ranks.
In their time on the high seas, Pete & The Pelicans have had many crew members that have since been thrown overboard, including Hillbilly Phil on Banjo & Mandolin and the man known only as The Captain on upright bass.
Pirates are overrated...enjoy the music!
Review:
"I spied these guys at the National Folk Festival in 2007. John Henry was a steel drivin' man but he never worked as hard as these guys do...high energy, good time folk, country and blues and not necessarily in that order! Sit down, shut up and hold on, and be thoroughly entertained!' - Russ Lawrence, President, Canberra Blues Society
