Sounds LikeOriginal acoustic music, a blend of the Americana sound and modern singer/songwriter styles. Taking from both the grace and traditions of the past as well as the sometimes frightening and bleak unknown of the future and creating songs with soul searching messages and relevant themes that address our current culture and our future, while looking for hope and meaning. A classic sound, yet one totally new and fresh.

   About Pete Conway
Of course memories are notoriously unreliable, but I will never forget the first time I heard Pete Conway play live. At a party in my parent’s basement, my friends and I stood on the concrete floor, Christmas lights strung from the ceiling, keg beer and stiff punch flowing. The typical preppy mid eighties suburban party, except for one thing: in the corner, four guys in t-shirts had set up a few cheap amps and a drum set, blasting Led Zeppelin covers like the world was going to end. As I watched them from across the room, it hit me that nobody seemed to notice that the kid playing a solo from “Dazed and Confused” on his Stratocaster knockoff was only 11 ......................................... Born and raised in Littleton, Colorado, Pete began playing guitar in fourth grade and was influenced at a young age by the masters: Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan. Like his heroes, he wrote his own music, which he would continue to do as the lead guitarist and singer with his rock bands, the Tongues, Sliquid and (now) Love Rind. By the time he was in college, he had recorded two full albums worth of original material and had been playing clubs, bars and frat parties. He took Sliquid to Chicago and toured, played and recorded steady rock and roll for two years. Ironically, it was from this hard rock haze that the first glimpses of the introspective acoustic music of Pete Conway first appeared. ................................................. While attending DePaul University in Chicago, Pete wrote and recorded two albums of acoustic music with friend and Sliquid bandmate Tim Kubiak. On Sex Truck and El Sueno Pete’s songwriting elevated to another level, for the first time touching on serious and personal themes. The music was inspired by his discovery of more traditional music, legends like Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Guy Clark and Uncle Tupelo. ........................................... After graduating from DePaul, Sliquid moved back to Denver, completing two more albums, Direct Input and Sliquid, and playing gigs across Colorado. Pete went on to form Love Rind, a popular Denver rock band which is currently completing its debut album on which Pete sings, plays lead guitar and writes all the original music. But though part of him will always be a rocker, in the last few years he has been drawn back to the acoustic roots that inspired his Chicago acoustic music.......................................... Pete Conway is the culmination of that journey. Pete’s voice and style evoke his heroes: Dylan, Lou Reed, Jerry, even modern singer songwriters such as Richard Buckner and Anton Newcombe. But there is something completely original about his songs, something completely honest. You can hear his heart come through the speakers.................................................... Pete has come a long way from that 11 year old jamming in the basement. He is playing his own beautiful music. Pete Conway makes that statement boldly. And it’s not just because I’m his brother that I say that. The kid is good. ................................. - Mickey Conway June, 2007
