TEXAS, FLORIDA AND CALIFORNIA.....Special note: The Music of PETE KINNE and his older brother DAVID KINNE is also featured here. In DAVID"S words: By way of explanation or perhaps apology, the music is very very raw - I recorded most of it directly into my computer and produced it myself using CoolEdit. This is the epitome of low fi. Also – we had some rules for our songs … The entire process of songwriting … from concept to lyrics to final recording … could take no longer than one hour. No retakes were allowed – each track was recorded “as is.” Needless to say, the songs are pretty bad, but also entertaining and fun. Don’t feel like you have to put them on the website, (although you are welcome to) – but you can enjoy them as another side of Pete that helps represent his sense of humor. “Weasels” is the first thing we did together. Think about the most annoying “flaming lips” song you have ever heard. Then make it more annoying...... “Far Below” – you may want to think twice about putting this one on the site, as it may be considered a bit morbid, considering. We thought it would be funny to juxtapose a happy pop tune – complete with Partridge Family-esque “ba ba bahs…” with lyrics about insanity and death.
The Page now is able to post all of the Pete/Cloyce songs that we have at once. The last two songs "Weasles" and "Far Below" are from Pete and his brother David Kinne recordings as "THE NAME". Pease read the "rules" for these recordings and comments from David Kinne in the SOUNDS LIKE portion of this page..This PETE KINNE Page is to share with you the music and talents of our friend PETE KINNE who we lost in Sept. of 2006.
It is with respect and love that Cloyce and Dan McCann share the music we recorded with Pete in the short time we had with our friend.
Pete was a former Beechwood Sparks band member. All friends of PETE KINNE are invited to contact us as well as anyone who hears the soul of this music. You may download all the songs on this page (please do) except for those by Pete and David Kinne together.
On Thursday August 21st the Beachwood Sparks were here in SF for a small reunion tour. They sang a song of the very missed PETE KINNE ( something about Manatee ) and it was great and heartfelt .....I thought of you Pete ,and gave Brent a big hug from you --as I remembered our last talks ..... (perhaps it was after 12 am ,and definitely it was so in FLA -- so really on your B day ) WOW --- anyway always in my heart ,always .
One of my favorite memories with Pete is one night...forever ago it seems, we were at a friend's house...Pete and Eric both had their guitars...they were playing and i was singing. it was the definition of perfect harmony.
I skim through this page more often than not-appreciating what everyone else comments about Pete. And then of course-always appreciative of Pete. *suntigns*
We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. We think of you in silence, we often speak your name. Now all we have are memories, perhaps a picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part. God has you in his keeping, we have you in our heart.
In my heart today and everyday. I miss you! "Seldom stumble, never crumble Try to tumble, life's a rumble Feel the stinging I've been given Never ending, unrelenting Heartbreak searing, always fearing Never caring, persevering Sail on, sail on, sailor"
