   About Pete Kartsounes
I am and have been (for 13 years) a full timin', singin'/songwritin', mountain hikin', dog walkin', Colorado dwellin', festival goin', bluegrass pickin', Grateful Dead Headin', bike ridin', sushi eatin', soul singin', happy guy that does what I love to do the most....PLAY MUSIC of my OWN and LIVE in the beautiful town of BOULDER, COLORADO. The band that I just finished touring with all year was the Wayword Sons. (http://waywordsons.com). We played a mix of Folk and Blues mixed with flavors of Bluegrass and Soul. I did that from coast to coast, for thousands of miles, and many major FESTIVALS all over the country. I was very happy to be a part of it. Ya ever heard of Burle Grass? Its worth giving it a listen. Yonder Mountain String Band recorded a whole CD (These Old Hands) with Burle Tunes. Like I said, I was very happy to be a part of that band and its music and I am sure we will continue in one way or another. I just need a little break and that allows me to now enter the next chapter of my life: The Pete Kartsounes Band..................................................... For years I have played solo gigs beteween touring with the many bands I have been a part of, and I have always heard "Pete, why dont you do your own thing!!?". So now its time to do just that. With all the great friends I have met, all the great connections I have made, and all the great places I have gone to and played, its time to focus primarily on MY career as a writer and as a peformer. I am so excited to voyage out and play folk festivals, bluegrass festivals, and even blues festivals all over not just the U.S but throughout the WORLD with my own band and as a solo artist as well, playing the songs that I have written along the long road I have travelled. So now I am DOING that with a whole new outlook on what I WANT and DONT want.OH YES and most importantly A NEW CD!!!!....................................................................... My new CD is DONE and OUT!!!! Its called "Out of Nowhere" and its quite fancy. It was realeased on July 4th, 2007 and is a collection of 12 of my songs. I am fortunate to have some friends on it like Sally Van Meter (Queen of Dobro), Drew Emmitt (Leftover Salmon), Jeff Austin (Yonder Mountain String Band), Travis Book (The Stringdusters) and many more amazing musicians from the Colorado music scene.Greg Schochet produced it (and played amazing mandolin) and Brian Neubauer did the engineering. I was VERY lucky to have Gus Skinas on board to help with the mix and master, but as if luck wasnt enough, he also ran it through his DSD (direct Stream Digital) unit. Its a new technology that you will hear of soon, and I am serious about that. Its essentially visual music as you can close your eyes and actually hear where the musicians are standing. Im very proud of how "Out of Nowhere" turned out. Have a listen and come out to a show!!!!!........................................ Have a look at my newest project the "Hike For Cancer Foundation" at www.Hike4Cancer.org . I am hiking the Colorado Trail (500 miles) from July 30th-Sept 5th, playing 5 shows along the way and raising money for children fighting cancer. (Breckenridge, Leadville, Salida, Creede, Durango) 100% of the proceeds go to Camp Wapiyapi (just outside of Estes Park) which is a camp for children with cancer and their familys. I am doing many events to raise money throughout the rest of my life. Giving is a great thing and I look forward to seeing this Foundation grow with the help of community, music, and the outdoors. Please have a look and please lend a helping hand. No donation is too big or too small.................................................... If anyone does not have a myspace account and wants to get a hold of me you can send an email to me directly at www.westwindproject@hotmail.com

Great pic!!! Sorry that we didnt make it to Tenn. That was a real Bummer!!!! I would have had to stop every 10 miles to pee. This child inside me keeps getting bigger and bigger!!! How are things? Rhonda mentioned that you may be coming home for a visit.
