Influences
Spiritually influenced by the One who made me. John, Kate, Mary, Kay. Also, Sean Hayes, Piers Faccini, Xavier Rudd, Alexi Murdoch, Iron and Wine, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, Katchafire, Fat Freddy's Drop, Thievery Corporation. The inspiration comes from Seth Gooby and my brothers: Barefoot Truth, Andrew Gill, and K-Stav's nasty e-solos. Thanks to all
I find it hard to write about myself. when someone else does it, you, speaking in generalities, have to change all the he's to I's, add in some awesome adjectives, and by that time, you tend to ask yourself if that's really you, because you of all people should know you. so know I'm back to the beginning. Nonetheless, here's my attempt.
By looking left, you can see the musical artists I draw influence from-a wide variety ranging from folk, pop, rock, blues, reggae, soul, dub. You may also have your own opinions about what the music sounds like, which is awesome...I'd love to hear it.
While drawing influences from other musicians is definitely big, ultimately for me, the realness of the music comes from the places I've been, the people I've met, things I've seen, and the conclusions I draw...Ogzi, a great guy and surfer in Puerto Rico, the church with out walls in Rincon, sleeping on a beach in Kaikora, surf trip with Dad in Nova Scotia, playing cards with Pops and hearing stories of his experiences parachuting into Normandy, non-stop 24 hour roadtrip with Kelz to Memphis, wave-sliding perfection at Kumera Patch, Mary and Kay following their heart, John and Kate's solid foundation and their love.
My music is about things beyond me...it's about something greater. I hope you feel it.
