   About peter
Like many great artists, Peter Busboom wields a tremendously keen sense of observation. Whether studying the seductive shape of the guitar or mentally recording the sound of the gentle breeze caressing the leaves of the tree outside his window, he possesses a unique sense of the world around him. And it’s this awareness that sparks each deliberate downbeat, each ethereal note of the music that he creates. One might describe Peter Busboom’s music as a soundtrack for life filled with rhythms that match the pace and pulse of your life; melodies that carry on the tradition of the griot; and grooves that echo our sentiments and remind us of our humanity. Boasting a career that has spanned over a decade, Busboom’s music has had a global impact. Having performed across the world from his home in Osnabrueck, Germany to the United States, his sound has traversed miles, lingering in the ears of listeners from every corner of the earth. Inspired by an early fascination with guitars, Busboom began his career as a guitarist in rock and funk bands in Germany. But it wasn’t long before the influence of techno music beckoned him toward new horizons. He was suddenly introduced to new technologies and a new sound and began producing new age, experimental grooves. His mastery of the bass, percussive instruments and synthesis programs molded his new work. The result was a melding of a variety of instruments, a progressive fusion of styles and the beginning of a new journey. Peter Busboom’s music has received airplay around the world including the United States, Australia and Japan. His discography, categorized as a blend of ambient, electronica and trip-hop, includes highly ranked The Beginning and Klangart. Especially notable tracks include Rainmode, inspired by the September 11th tragedy and his anti-war anthem One Night in Baghdad featured on National Public Radio (NPR) during the widely popular All Songs Considered segment. In addition to the compelling messages found in his work, the appeal of Busboom’s music is also in part due to a wide range of influences. Celebrated artists such as Carlos Santana, Al DiMeola, Alan Holdsworth, Egberto Gismonti, John Abercrombie and Jan Ackerman all comprise the patchwork of influences that blankets Busboom’s collection of songs. Life’s instruments have also contributed greatly to his library of sounds, from samplings of natural wonders and urban chaos to the roar of a crowd of thousands as they witness the birth of a new musical style. As a renowned music composer, Peter Busboom’s music makes its way not only onto our airwaves but into every crevice of our lives. From festivals and exhibits all over the globe to the soundtracks of films and popular television ads, his music fills the space around us augmenting every experience. He has created sounds for numerous art festivals throughout the world, including Colors, an African traveling art exhibit opened by Nelson Mandela in Berlin. He’s also composed the soundtrack for Nam, a critically-acclaimed independent war epic . Fans can look forward to Peter Busboom’s upcoming release, Coyote Blue, a project he describes as more guitar-based than his last two releases, and laden with lots of solos and guitar lines. This highly anticipated mélange of influences from Santana and the Allman Brothers as well as new age sounds and Busboom’s own unique sensibilities is certain to be just as poignant, progressive and praise-worthy as the rest of the music in his body of work. Since his move to the United States from Germany, Peter Busboom has spent five years in New York and three years in Los Angeles. He currently lives in San Francisco where he’s at work on several projects.
