That mid 70s May Day bank holiday when me and a friend wandered lonely as clods,on to an industrial estate,We must have been about 13,the shadows of the clouds seemed to move in blustery slow motion and the sun seemed to be racing between em,very vivid. I saw, before I heard, a squad car tearing up the road and a copper get out and walk up to us, I remember squinting a smile at him,putting my hands in my patch pockets, and looking down at his hands and hearing the click of the press stud on his right glove,then the old big BANG of light and numbing pain noise and I found myself knocked down into an oily puddle with sharp spirals of beautiful livid blue swarf in it. tasted blood in my mouth, heard the slam of the car door and the squeal of tyres.Ive never spoke to anyone about this since it happened,That night I watched a great french film called Alphaville.
