Pete Wall is a well-traveled musician, composer and arranger. Pete plays all saxophones, but only keeps a tenor, soprano, C-Melody and bari in his everyday arsenal. Pete is also accomplished on flute and tin whistles. A musical chameleon, Pete is currently playing and touring mostly with WhiteWater Ramble out of Fort Collins, CO, but you can also catch him with his own groups (Textiles, Pete Wall Duo/Trio, Vitaphone) or hitting the stage with Particle, Banyan, the Ethereal Plane or other groups.
Since graduating from the esteemed jazz program at the University of Northern Colorado in 1999, Pete has traveled the world playing with a variety of musicians. Some of those he has shared the stage and the studio with include such diverse talents as Herbie Hancock, Joshua Redman, Stephen Perkins (Jane’s Addiction), Rick Gardner (P-Funk), Tony Franklin (Jimmy Page, David Gilmour), Henry Butler, George Porter Jr (The Funky Meters), Erik Duetsch (Charlie Hunter Trio), Vince Welnick, Steve Adams (ALO), Josh Clark (Tea Leaf Green), Robert Waters, Moby, Steve Ellington, Dave Liebman, Willie Waldman, Rob Wasserman, Michael Kang (SCI), Bill McKay (Leftover Salmon), Hope Clayburn (Deep Banana Blackout), Dave Watts (The Motet), Greg Garrison (Punch Brothers), Steve Molitz (Phil Lesh & Friends), Rob Eaton (Dark Star Orchestra), CR Gruver (Outformation), Fred Thomas (James Brown), and many others. Along the way, Pete has amassed a huge musical vocabulary and approach as he bridged many musical styles. “The fantastic thing about music is that it has no boundaries or hang-ups. By its very own nature,” Pete says, “music is limitless and was really the first truly global art form and global form of communication. We should never lose sight of that.”
Somewhat known for playing his tenor and soprano saxes at the same time (he calls it his “two-horn trick), with a nod of respect to Rahsaan Roland Kirk and Jeff Coffin, Pete has a unique and highly energizing improvisational style, reminiscent of Charles Lloyd, Joshua Redman and Lenny Pickett all rolled up into one person. In addition to playing with WhiteWater Ramble and the groups mentioned above, on many nights Pete can be found sitting in with everything from a string ensemble to a Celtic circle jam to a soul group. Pete Wall has been featured on many studio and live recordings. For a full discography, please visit the website. He has also been featured in numerous reviews, magazine and newspaper articles and online releases.
Pete is available as a performer and is also a highly in demand clinician. For booking and clinic information please email: booking@petewall.com
