Born and raised in Salzburg, Peter Kronreif discovered his passion for the drumset already in his childhood and took private lessons during high school. After graduating he studied at Kunstuniversität Graz and Bruckner-University Linz, where he completed his Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in 2007 with first class-honors and is now in the Masters Program, where he is studying with Doug Hammond and Jeff Boudreaux.
Over the past few years Peter became one of the most wanted sidemen in Austria’s Jazz-scene – working with, amongst others, Harry Sokal, Martin Reiter, Matthieu Michel, Alegre Correa, Ana Paola DaSilva, Peter O'Mara, Pepe Auer, Phil Nykrin and Louie Austen brought him on Tour in over 20 nations – and in 2009 was awarded the Hans-Koller-Prize as „Sideman of the Year“.
Living in Vienna since 2005 Peter spends some months in New York City every year where he studied with Greg Hutchinson, Jonathan Blake and John Riley; he works with several young musicians around town and played concerts in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Philadelphia.
2009, also in NYC, he founded his first own band „Wayfarers“. The release of their debut-album “Gloaming” in March 2010 will be combined with a Tour through Europe.

Spiel am Mittwoch, 18.März, bei der Jazzwerkstatt Wien mit meiner Band aura:L sculptures. Der Abend startet um 20:00 im WUK, wir sind die zweite Band, werden also ca. um 21:00 spielen...
