Peter... Had to send this photo of Michael Gill to you. You were such a great friend to him. Sending you art deco wishes and hoping you have a swell weekend. Isn't New York fabulous?
Over 25 years ago i taped a TV show you were on! Hello Mr. Mintun- I have liked early jazz music since i was a kid and of course Duke Ellington is one of my favorites. I bought one of the first video tape machines on the market called a Sony Betamax machine in 1978 and i used it to tape TV shows with any jazz interest to me. I taped the Dick Cavett show when he had Joe Venuti as a guest. I taped a special on Eubie Blake entitled "Memories of Eubie" hosted by Billy Taylor. And i taped a special on Duke Ellington with a historian and pianist who the host announced was making a name for himself in San Francisco. The historian and pianist on that TV show i taped over 25 years ago was a man, who when i first saw him on that show, i thought looked more like a man from the 1920's than any i had ever seen. His name was Peter Mintun and i still have the video tape of that TV show and the first number Mr. Mintun played was Sophisticated Lady. Here it is 2007 now and many years after i taped that TV show you were on. I am honored to be the friend of a world famous musician and especially one who plays the music i love so much! I am going to have to go to Amoeba Music in Hollywood and look for some of your cd's because my local music store doesn't have any.
M'dear Peter, lovely music to listen to whilst perusing your gallery of photos. But why didn't you ever record one of my songs, like "My Daddy?" I know you own the sheet music, toots! Hope to see you again soon. Kisses to Eric and the dogs.
Peter... you are such a beautiful soul. I hope you have a lovely time this weekend! The "Casablanca" venue sounds lovely and perfectly suited to your style! Sending you much love, handsome man!
Peter... we met so long ago, but never forgot your magnificent music. I often think of you when watching movies on Turner Classic Movies. I loved your rendition of "When We're Alone". I believe Ruth Etting made a great recording of it. Your playing is flawless, but even more important, it's authentic. You're a wonderful man and a thoughtful person and I wish you all the greatest gifts in the world.
Hi, Peter! See? I found you right away and am already a member, as I thought I was. Thanks for your AWESOME tunes, and Dean Mora said he had a blast with you and Vince and the others back in NYC. I should be back there during the last week of June for 2 AUSTIN POWERS gigs. Let's get together during that time and JAM, baby!
Hugs,
RICHARD
