"Mr. Robbins, an industrious and venturesome alto saxophonist and clarinetist, leads...an ambitious ensemble that combines spacious avant-gardism with the melodic punch of rock...[He has] a cool tone and a thoughtfully off-kilter sensibility. ...[A]n intimate jazz-rock hybrid...[C]omplex but welcoming, and ultimately light on its feet....Mr. Robbins plays with coolness as well as confidence....[H]is compositions seem to breathe according to some collective whim." (Nate Chinen, New York Times) ********** "Several of Robbins' tunes are flag-wavers, teeming with broad, catchy melodies. That's at odds with the very intricate lines thread together to create such themes, and that dynamic is why Centric[, his ensemble,] is so intriguing....As a horn player, Robbins has liquid timbre that can remind just how pretty modern jazz can be." (Jim Macnie - The Village Voice, The Providence Phoenix) ********** "Mr. Robbins played hard and fluidly, landing heavily on unexpected notes to give his solos funk and shape....it was a band of equal shares, and they built the abrupt, shuddering, wriggling music together." (Ben Ratliff - New York Times) ********** "'Do The Hate Laugh Shimmy'...continues Robbins's project of crafting lush contemporary jazz that cruises along smoothly despite its complex architecture...Both cerebral and funky." (Hank Shteamer, Time Out New York)

pete robbins' mission, as he has chosen to accept it, has been to save jazz from itself, by taking it apart from the inside out. or something like that. his newest album "do the hate laugh shimmy" (fresh sound / new talent) is available now at www.peterobbins.com, and will soon be on iTunes and other online distributors. "waits and measures" (playscape) and "centric" (telepathy) are available there as well, as well as at amazon.com and all major internet music sites.
pete grew up outside boston (andover, ma), and now resides in brooklyn. he tours the u.s. and europe with his groups with various groups under his leadership. he also tours and records with the ryan blotnick group, and has recently started playing in a trio with mario pavone and tyshawn sorey.
pete has received multiple composition grants from chamber music america, and has been featured in such publications as the new york times, the boston globe, the village voice, and jazz times magazine.

Ha yes there's only one person who can play like that! Hope you are well. I'm away until August, but we should try and play when I get back if you're around. Hopefully see you soon. JE
Hello “friends”, I have had jazz musicians emailing me their suggestion on how I should go about with other musicians “Share File” songs instead of using the agreement that was written out on Boodeaux’s blog. You’ll now see there is no longer any binding agreement, just the love of your trust with Boodeaux is all that is needed. If you agree, Boodeaux will even buy one of your song tracks from your MySpace. com profile page with your permission only after you have sent an IM (Instant Message saying so). Otherwise it’s all up to you however you wish to share your song track file. And you may cancel out anytime as you wish. Here you’ll see a shortcut to Boodeaux’s blog:
I apologize for not having my profile page ready before public viewing. It's starting to come together now. If you know of anyone who might be interested in sharing their Sax sound on my music player for exposure, entertainment, and most of all for those who are still unknown at this time that would like to be known to the world wide web of jazz music.

PS. Don't forget to check out Boodeaux's images from his photo album.
