Overflowing with sincerity, heart, harmony and tradition, Pete Ross has blended the genres of country, roots, and folk music to tastefully create his debut solo album, Six String Suicide. The latter genre is filled with authentic character by the contribution and inspiration of Pete's father, Peter Ciani, a popular and much respected singer/songwriter.
From 2001 to 2004 Pete Ross toured nationally and the USA as a guitarist with Dan Brodie and The Broken Arrows - including performances at Homebake, Livid, Tamworth and South By South West – and an ARIA nomination for Best Debut Artist (Album). He spent most of 2005 travelling Europe and discovering his roots, to which he pays respect by recording the traditional Sicilian folk song Sciuri Sciuri, for Six String Suicide.
Pete Ross bares all on Six String Suicide. It is an album on which Pete tells his own tales of hope, happiness, sorrow and thanks, whilst paying homage to some of his musical mentors, Bob Dylan and the late Lee Hazlewood.
He recruited his friends to help him on his new musical journey and aptly entitled the band, The Paesanos. Pete Ross & The Paesanos have performed at festivals as diverse as : High Vibes Day at the Darebin Festival, The Stringy Bark Festival and The Boolarra Folk Festival.
At this year’s (2008) Tamworth Country Music Festival, Pete Ross was one of two finalists nominated for the 2008 Aristocrat Country Entertainer of the Year (performing the traditional Sicilian folk song, Sciuri Sciuri). As a soloist Pete Ross was a finalist at the 42nd annual CCMA song writing awards.
When it comes to a composer & performer such as Pete Ross, whose music is contemporary, yet traditional – beguiling, yet bewildering – comforting, yet provoking, we are forced to think outside the musical square of how a country, roots and folk album
by a Melbourne artist mixing these genres might sound. The end result is that Six String Suicide contains crafted songs that resonate with a diversity of audiences.
In May 2008 Pete returned to Europe where he is currently touring and preparing to release his album later in the year. An Australian release is scheduled for early 2009.

NEW ALBUM "SIX STRING SUICIDE" AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD NOW ON
