Peter Verdonck was born in Herentals, Belgium on 1 September 1979. He started the study of the saxophone at the Music Academy of Turnhout with Mark Verdonck, which he continued at the music department of the Heilig Graf Institute in Turnhout. After finishing his high school in 1998, he moved to Ghent to study with Willy Demey at the Royal Conservatory. There he took courses in composition with Lucien Posman as well and he graduated in June 2003 with highest honours for saxophone, chamber music and improvisation. In June 2007 Peter obtained the diploma for Postgraduate Concert Soloist at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp with Hans De Jong. Beside these studies he followed masterclasses with Hans De Jong and Claude Delangle.
Peter is cofounder and saxophonist of contemporary ensemble Thelema Trio, he plays and sings (backings) with the Rhythm Junks and he’s the founder, composer and saxophonist of the metal band Wretched Vixen.
Furthermore he can be found in various ensembles and groups. This brought him to halls all over Belgium, but also the Netherlands, Luxembourgh, Slovakia, Poland, Italy, France, Germany, Peru, Japan and China. In 2005 he performed as a soloist with the Belgian chamber orchestra Prima La Musica in the Concerto for Alto Saxophone, String Orchestra, Accordion and Percussion by Belgian composer Raoul De Smet.
He composes chamber music for many different line-ups and he’s a saxophone teacher. A number of his works have been recorded by a.o. Thelema Trio and Aranis.
Thanks so much for the add–and your friendship. We enjoyed your music very much. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. It's a pleasure having you among our friends!
We hope you and your friends enjoy our music, too. We've just added four new compositions and two new blogs about Umano.
We wake up every morning and play the music of the new MySpace friends who have arrived at our site during the night. It occurred to us that these friends (you are among them) are almost universally positive, whether they be novices or legends, and without regard to their station in life or the country they occupy.
It also occurred to us that we couldn’t hold a verbal conversation with most of these friends, but we have bridged that gap by expressing our art honestly with each other.
We all have been filling the world with our music and art, in the hope that our messages of love and human understanding will have an impact on the world at large.
What a gift and what an opportunity we have received from this technology!
